Pretty good for a local mom-and-pop. Not worth a long drive.. Tia's is a "mom and pop" restaurant. It's good for the price. Since it's close to my house we go there weekly.Tia's has tasty food, and is very affordable, makikng it easy to frequent this restaurant. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there - it's not worth a drive across town. Food is tasty and affordable. Service is always friendly. Since my family has eaten there frequently for years, the staff will seat us ahead of everybody else (sorry, people!). Oh - and they have mariachis on most days of the week. Very cool.
Great Alternative to Other Mexican Restaurants in the area. I discovered Tia Maria's by accident one night when the wait at Tony's Mexican restaurant was unbearable. A friend had told me about it and after hearing the wait at that other place was over an hour, I decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did!! The best cheese enchiladas in town, friendly service, and cheap!! Makes me ask, Tony who?
It's not so secret anymore. I remember when it used to be "you ever heard of tia maria's?" and now it seems everyone is going there, which is not bad at all, because their mexican food is probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant. It's hard to top mom's home cooking, but this sure does come close. The fajita quesadillas are freaking amazing, and last time I took my niece, she stuffed her face full of beans and cheese. They've got a wonderful staff, who tend to your every want. All in all, it's just an amazing place to eat some good food.
User review by sexyrainchick12. Mexican food is one of my least favorite foods, but Tia Maria's is one of the two places I actually enjoy this food. The prices are very cheap and the food is great! If you want to beat the crowd, go before 7pm on a Friday night. My boyfriend and I recently went there on a Friday night around 7:30pm and it was packed and very noisy. There were 3 women who were being very rude to the left of us and would not stop talking and laughing loudly. I think they might have been drunk. My advice is to go when it's not so crowded, because it isn't noisy and you will enjoy it more.
Long live Tia Maria's!. I've been going to Tia Maria's since I was five years old. Every Saturday my mom and grandparents would all gather for dinner at Tia Maria's, even sometimes waiting 45 minutes, because the food is THAT good. The enchiladas' are the best, and the chalupas, tacos, and everything else. It was always a treat to see my grandma get the massive taco salad, which was bigger than my five year old head. I've grown up now, and sadly seldom visit this Houston mexican food landmark. I don't recommend the fajitas, but they even have good mariachi bands, and I'm not a fan of that culture. I see someone I know often, when I do go, and Houston is a big city!
Best Mexican food, hands down!. I have been oing to this restaurant for over nine years and it is amazing. My favorite food is Mexican so I have tried over a hundred different ones around the city and Tia Marias is the best. There is no comparison. The fajitas are the best dish on the menu. Around dinner time, every table has at least 1 margarita on it. The service is great and quick. They always give a ton of food and the prices are unreasonably low. I have taken everyone I know there and none of them have been disappointed. This restaurant is growing very quickly.
Awesome!. Tia's is some of the best mexican I have had. Their queso is fantastic, enchiladas are yummy and the frozen margaritas are AMAZING!!! For great value, Tias is definitely the place! :D
On the Mark.
Tia Marias offers the cities best cheese enchiladas. No orange rubbery centers here. only fresh hot oozing chesse. I also suggest the Tacos al carbon or the great Master chef fajitias. The margaritas are a must. in the 3 yrs Ive known about this place, I have never had a bad dish. Get there early on the weekend or for lunch. as this little gem is getting popular.
