Tips for Casa Ole

5.0
July 03, 2009

Good Food, Good Green Sauce, Good Times. My family has been going to this particular Casa Ole' for years. The seating has always been prompt. The wait staff has never been anything but friendly, helpful and fun. Some are real characters, and I mean that in a GOOD way.

No one has ever rushed us out, even at the end of their day.

The food is Tex-Mex, and quite good; much better than you'd expect at the price, which is quite affordable.

A standout item is the bottomless guacamole chip dip. This is so hard to find nowadays. I got addicted at the old Ninfa's in the 1970s and '80s, but Ninfa's has gotten a bit pricey and hard to find. And frankly, their green sauce no longer impresses.

Casa Ole has good green sauce that's consistent in flavor and 'heat'. The texture is creamy, without being too thick or too thin. While I personally love the green sauce, the red salsa is also better than average. It's perfectly complemented by their endless baskets of corn chips, which are never stale or soggy.

On an equally important (to me) note, the restaurant is always clean and well-maintained. The bathrooms are likewise. The upholstery and tables are in kept in good condition (not new, but comfortably worn), even though this restaurant has been a neighborhood presence for years.

We've met the owner (it's a franchise), and he's nice, cheerful, welcoming and public spirited.

I believe that you can tell a lot about a manager or owner by the people that work for them, and vice versa. If that's true, than both the owner and his employees speak well of each other by example.

If you enjoy Mexican food, try this place. You won't regret it.
