Great Steaks. I really love the food here. The portions are very good if your hungry. You have to try the chicken and shrimp embrochete as an appetizer or meal it superb.
User review by rerone. Ate there on June 22 2005. Had center cut 10 oz filet medium rare. This $28 steak was cooked correctly but was tough and sinewy. Probably an old cow.
A comfortable, unpretentious family steakhouse with a strong Texas flavor..
In Short
The setting is homey and pure Texas, including the Hill Country-style stonework along the entranceway. The service can be a little erratic, but the reasonably priced and well-cooked fare makes up for it. Steak and prime rib are not the only specialities here. They also have great potatoes, including the baked-potato soup, and more Texas-sized options including the two-fork cheesecake and the addictive Shiner Bock beer bread.
suegie. I've spent a lot of money at various steakhouses in town, but I keep coming back to Saltgrass because they have the tastiest steaks, and a tremendous value for the money spent. You can't beat this chain of steakhouses!
OK for what it is. This is not the best steak in Houston, but it's decent. This is a casual, "cowboy" style restaurant where the steaks are reasonably priced and on par with an Outback Steak House. You've got to pay a lot more for a really great USDA prime steak!
Shareal Nuter. This is the best steak I have ever tasted. I would recommend this place to anyone. When I have family and friends come in from out of town this is where I take them to eat.
Delicious to the last bite. I'd go here every week if I could. They are building a new one on my side of town and I can't wait!! I had my rehersal dinner for 50 here and they handeled it fabulously!! No mistakes at all! The filet is to die for. Also save room for the cheesecake, they pour a white chocolate sauce over it...OOoohh YUM!
Best Value Good Food. I have eaten here several times in the past on business dinners but the last time I came was with my wife and it took the cake. We had just bought a car and our wallet was light, and we weren't real hungry as it was late. We decided to split a steak, the 16 oz I believe Rib Eye. Usually not my favorite cut, but this came out perfectly and the taste was one of the best Rib Eyes I ever had. The waitress was very attentive and split our salad for us in seperate bowls before serving to us. We loved it!!
Great Place. We ordered the steak and shrimp combo meals..me.the rib eye and grilled shrimp him the rib eye and coconut shrimp..the steaks were cooked perfect medium well and medium rare..the grilled shrimp was perfect also..we had two salads mine the basalmic vinaigrette and him the ranch.. the salads were fresh and the dressings tasted every bit worthy of being homemade ..the meals were beyond great overall..two full to go for desserts..ohhh the beer bread we ate two loaves!!
