Editorial Review for Ashiana Indian Restaurant – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Ladies who lunch, foodies and wine connoisseurs are drawn way out west for the highly regarded Indian cuisine and gracious service. At dinner, soft lights, soothing Indian artwork and private linen-dressed tables create an atmosphere conducive to lingering.
The Food
The mostly traditional menu focuses on deftly prepared dishes such as smoky tandoori kebabs, piquant curries and tart yogurt sauces made with freshly ground spices. Try the rich lamb ashar gosht with "tickling spices" or moist chicken breast tiki masala in tomato cream. Also expect distinctive culinary thrills: Indulge in succulent lobster tail gently roasted in the tandoor and dipped in garlic butter, or delicate Chilean sea bass cooked with sweet red onions and coconut milk.

You know I had really high hopes for this place. The restaurant was elegantly decorated. So I figured I was going to get a meal at a high end classy Indian restaurant. The service was truly awful. I feel like we were being ignored. We didn't get menus until I asked the bus boy to get us some. He went and asked the host. We didn't get drinks until I once again had to ask the bus boy to get the host. I'm not a restaurant snob or anything like that, but for the prices they were asking for, I except damn good service. Over food came out slow. Service was slow to sub par. The food was average. You could get much better food in the hilcroft and harwin area for 1/3 of the cost. our bill was about $150 for 3 people. This includes 3 alcoholic drinks. In conclusion don't waste your time or money here.
Pros: Decent food no line
Cons: crappy service and experiance, too exp

I eat lunch at Ashiana quite often, and while it's not cheap, it's not too expensive. I hadn't eaten dinner at Ashiana in over 3 years, but when my wife told me she would take me anywhere I wanted for my birthday, I chose Ashiana. She doesn't particulary care for Indian (but she likes Kiran's), so I didn't want to miss my chance for traditional Indian. The food was "good" not great, but no better than the lunch buffet. There were two couples and our dinner tab ran over $170 BEFORE the wine. It's way too expensive for what you get. The meat dishes were small, not enough to share even a little bit, the vegs were good but limited. They charged for the nan, the deserts were substandard, and the service was poor at best. In the old days, you the food was of higher quality and you had servers all over you. Kiran herself would always stop by to make sure everything was good and make you feel at home. Those days are gone. Needless to say, I should have selected Kiran's, but I wanted to go back to Ashiana at dinner for old time's sake. From this point forward, Ashiana will only be a lunch choice.
Pros: Food, Wine Lists
Cons: Prices, Portions, Service
