“Good food, but a very long wait!”
A colorful seafood restaurant for kids of all ages--especially the younger ones..
In Short
Admittedly kitschy, unavoidably noisy, this Red Lobster for rug rats is like an oversized seaside shanty awash in oceanic memorabilia--fishing nets, souvenir trinkets, plastic flotsam and jetsam. Staffed with a lively crew of G-rated table-dancing servers, the family-friendly chain anchors its menu in all things crab: Crab balls, crab cakes, crab dip, crab gumbo. Finicky children opt for corndogs or hamburgers; shellfish-phobic adults dine on rib eye steak or mesquite-grilled chicken.
Horrible management (coughsomeguynamedPAULcough)!. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Joe's was never a great restaurant, but ever since the split from the Landry's Corporation it has become even worse. I know someone who worked there and I'd advise people not to even bother applying, especially to this location. What kind of restaurant job makes you pay for a fountain drink! The service here is horrible, the managers are on a power trip, and the food is disgusting. I'm amazed this restaurant is still standing. Trust me, if you want seafood go to Red Lobster.
How did this place get on the list?.
Anyone that knows good seafood knows that it's all frozen for who knows how long. The only way they sell it is to slop on heavy toppings, seasonings andor sauces to attempt to cover bad quality seafood.
I am trying to figure out what is worse, sitting there hungry while they line dance, sing Happy Birthday to what seems like every table or when the teenage waitress' sit and hangout with their high school friends and complain about no one is tipping them 25%. My personal suggestion: Do your job. The only thing I liked is the stuffed Jalapenos. You might want to bring earplugs too.
Joe's is one word - BAD. Joe's Crab Shack is about as good as Long John Silver's. It's like Olive Garden is to Italian as Jack In The Box is for a good hamburger. Houston has lots of great seafood restaurants, Joe's is NOT one of them!
6. Good food, but a very long wait! They have a play ground for the kids while you wait but it is very crowded and easy for the children to get injured. The service is not very promt but the fun atmosphere is entertaining.
