Once a tent on the side of I-45, Gallery has become a successful two-warehouse complex including surprising attractions: memorabilia of Elvis and Princess Di (don't overlook the "castle" constructed in her honor amid the sofa sets), bowling alley, and live macaws perching near the store's cafe.
The Goods
Nicer than you might imagine they'd be, given the prices and the owner's predilection for NASCAR racing and WWF. There's a large selection for every room in your house, especially living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. You probably won't find the very latest thing or that fabulous mid-century modern chair, but if you want an affordable bedroom or dinette set, there's a range of (mostly) attractive options.

I purchased a lower end Toshiba LCD tv a few months back. It was right before hurricane Ike made landfall here in Houston as a matter of fact. Gallery has a 15 day return policy, and I didn't start having trouble with that TV until about 20 days after the purchase. After the hurricane came, my TV troubles were placed on the back burner for another few weeks. After about 2 months from the time of purchase, I began noticing bad picture quality, and trouble with the unit powering on. I called GF and was told I had to take this up with Toshiba. I emailed back and spoke with Adan, the customer service manager. I explained that due to uncontrollable circumstances, I was not able to get back to the store in the 15 days, and I would like to upgrade the TV to a better model. Adan allowed me to bring in the faulty TV and exchange it towards a better model. I stayed with Toshiba, but got the better one they sold. I am happy with this TV, and because of GF's outstanding customer service, I will return and have no problem referring them to others. Thanks Adan, and GF.

We bought a nice couch, double recliner and single recliner. The only complaint I have is that they gave a HARD sell on both the extended warranty and fabric protection, which would add several hundred dollars to the purchase. On the 5 year warranty, I asked the salesman if Gallery sells cheap, poor quality furniture. When he responded with no, I said that I then didn't need an extended warranty. The salesman gave a demonstration of how well the fabric protector worked, When I said I was not interested in the fabric protection which was somewhere around $200, we were directed to another salesman at a booth who knocked the price down some. When I said I'd take it if they knocked the price to below $100. He said no, so we got just the furniture. I really didn't care for the hard sell on the extras, which from my past business experience is over 95% pure profit. Otherwise, the furniture showed up that night as promised, and we are very happy with it. By the way, we bought 4 cans of Scotchgard for less than $20. Whenever we have a spill, we'll clean it off and retreat with Scotchgard. That'll do the trick.

If you like being stampeded by salesman, this is your place. And they trail you like a dog. I think the prices are higher than other furniture stores. (Fingers, Star) It all comes across as a huge flea market. It was so hot in that building (in June) they must be trying to save on electricity. I expected more, from watching the commercials, So needless to say I was disappointed. Wont be stopping back in.
