What a great place!!!!. What kind, caring people. Dr Sloat is just FANTASTIC. I have been taking all 5 of my dogs there for years and they're smart, helpful, caring, and efficient. We are seen as soon as we walk in--no waiting with 35 other dogs in a crowded waiting room. They have helped me get my dogs through all kinds of things over the years and they've always steered me in the right direction. I LOVE them.
Pet Vet DOES NOT have your dogs best interest at heart.
Pet Vet Animal Hospital DOES NOT have your pet's best interest at heart. I took my dog there because her hind legs were shaking. After a 400.00+ charge for exams and lab fees, the vet told me that they could not figure out what to do and arbitrarily decided to give her a painkiller/NSAID...Deramaxx to be specific.
However, the lab test done by Pet Vet that day showed my dog had elevated liver and kidney functions. 2 major contradictions to prescribing Deramaxx ( just google it). Worst of all, the vet did this with a straight face and wanted to me to buy multiple refills as well as some prescription dog food "just to be safe".
I would stay away from these people, it goes beyond caveat emptor... they see a hurt dog as a way to fatten their wallets. BE CAREFUL..........
PetVet Is The best!!!.
About ten years ago, I decided to flee the high-pressure veterinary medicine practiced at Banfield and happened on PetVet Clinics. I have never considered another vet clinic since my first visit.
Dealing with other clinics, I had gotten used to paying high fees on every visit, no matter how minor the problem or treatment. It has been nice to deal with a provider that is not trying to extract every last penny from my wallet.
I usually go to the Southwest Freeway location to have either Dr Mark or Dr Sloat treat my dogs. Both of these guys are experienced and personable, and they know dogs inside and out!
My dogs are like family to me. I never pass up a chance to recommend Drs Mark and Sloat, (and their wonderful staff) to anyone who asks.
I was paying top dollar for "fresh outta school" vets at banfield, now I get experienced professionals at a reasonable price. It sure takes the sting out of vet bills!
I noticed that Dr Ross is listed at this practice too. He might still have some partnership with PetVet, but I take my dogs to him for dental care at his specialty clinic.
I think the number listed above is either wrong or an old phone number. The number I use for the SW Freeway clinic is 713-270-4119.
Dr. Ross's dental clinic is nearby, phone number is 281-325-0074. I recommend him too.
Do not take your pet here!. There is no option to give zero stars. Dr. James Sloat is NOT a good veterinarian to take your pet to! Came in with my dog that had some type of lump on its back. What did he do? Dug his fingers into my dogs back. Uh..hello? I just said my dog hurts there. Why would you dig your fingers in my dog like that? How about I dig my fingers into an area where you hurt? Not only that, he asked what my dog weighed, and I told him. What did he do? He told me to weigh my dog on the scale? I JUST TOLD YOU!! And your tech weighted my dog with me!!! You are a moron. And what did the scale say? EXACTLY the weight I TOLD HIM. VERY RUDE!! He is a complete moron, and very inconsiderate. Should have known that he would be horrible, what did I expect when I previously had an incident with him. When my dog had an ear infection, he was trying to show me how to put the drops in my dogs ear, telling me like I'm stupid, saying and I quote "Now watch, this is really important that you see how to put the drops in." then what did he do? HE POURED THE ENTIRE CONTAINER OF EAR DROPS IN MY DOGS EAR AND ALL OVER MY DOG!!! What an idiot. Do not take your pet to this idiot!!! I liked Dr. Marks and Dr. Jaxson!
I have taken my pets to Dr. Sloat, he is very good with my pets. You sound like an idot, and bitter.
BEST VET. Dr. James Sloat is not only a great surgeon, but he is also one of the most competent, caring and compassionate vets in the Houston area, who will be there for you! He is a pragmatic problem-solver who loves his patients and his patients love him back! He is very experienced and not arrogant. He is a good listener and very perceptive. A very real person and easy to talk to!
