I was visiting Houston from Los Angeles where we have fabulous sushi which puts most sushi in other cities in the USA to shame. I have also lived in Japan and had the real thing. Matsu is very good. The prices are incredibly low for the quality of fish and amount of food. basil4prez said it was high - the sashimi lunch box is 9.95, nice sashimi, tempura, rice, salad, soup, fruit etc. I had my 22 month old son with me and they were very accommodating, he wasn't in a good mood when we got there but by the time we left he was full and happy - he didn't have any raw fish but they brought me miso soup with extra tofu - he gobbled it up. The service was fine. If you are in a hurry eat at the bar not a table - that is the way to go - if you want a relaxing time, good fresh food and acceptable table service eat at a table. basil4prez may not know what they are talking about.

I eat at Matsu about twice a month. It is my favorite place for sushi. I am a sushi novice and so I like the New York Roll and California Roll the best. My daughter and I always get fried ice cream, as it is the perfect treat. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing and very clean.
