Donnovan at Mike's Place is Not a Nice Guy. I agree with the him. It was Donnovan! He is not a nice guy. He has favorites and if you are not one them, he won't call you to sing! I waited for 45 mins to sing. I asked him over and over how many before me and he would say oh your next, and then call someone else. He take the fun out of Karaoke.

Who is Dalton. Don't know who KJ Dalton is. Maybe DONOVAN was not there that night. He will interact with the crowd rather than just call out your name next like most KJ's. We go there & enjoy the Karaoke. Especially when he uses his props to interact with the singers. Oh well, guess he can't please everybody.

Great Service KJ SUCKED. SOOO MAD...my night away from the kids I found a bar that Jerry and I loved...that does karaoke which we love and is by the house, but the DJ ended up being a total ASS so I'm home by 11 o'clock and don't even have a baby buzz cause he was so horrible that I didn't even want to stay and don't know of any other bars in this area...thanks for ruining my whole date night DJ Dalton...at Mike's Place on Jones...you're a total PRICK

Love This Place. This is absolutely my favorite bar and it's all because of Kathy, John & Heidi's fun & friendly attitudes. They are the best bartenders I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. Along with wonderful bartenders, Mike's has an awesome wait staff. Although I go to Mike's on various days of the week, you could always find me there on a Friday night drinking cold beers and listening to GREAT live bands. I'm talking great bands like Sugar Durty, Fuzzy Side Up, The Fab 5, etc. Unfortunately, Mike's has let the great bands go and has started bringing in garage bands, and I mean garage bands in the true sense of the word (there's been maybe 1 or 2 decent bands). Although I've been going to Mike's for about 3 or 4 years, I've started looking for other places to go on Friday nights to see a good live band because you're not gonna find them at Mike's anymore. PLEASE MIKE'S, I'M BEGGING YOU. . . PLEASE, BRING BACK THE GOOD BANDS!!!! Fortunately, Tuesdays & Saturdays are still great wtih Donovan T's Karaoke & now they have $2 Thursdays. It really is a great place, I just wish Mike's would think less about the almighty dollar and more about the paying customers!! I mean, how much money are you really saving if no one is going there on Friday nights anymore because the music sucks?!?! Don't get me wrong, I still love the place, thanks to the bartenders & the wait staff, and I will continue to go for Donovan T's Karaoke & $2 Thursdays, you're just not gonna find me there on a Friday night anymore. That makes me so sad to say because Friday nights were my favorite nights at Mike's. :(

The Place To Be On Saturday Night!. Mike's is a great place to hang out any day of the week. On Tuesdays and Saturdays you have karaoke with Donovan T....one of the best DJs out there. He's got every song you can think and if he doesn't he'll try to get it. They have great drink prices....where else can you get 20oz draft of $3.00. The wait staff is awesome...even on the REALLY busy nights they do there very best to get to everyone. Not to mention if you want to have a party there they set everything (tables, chairs, balloons, etc.) up for you...for FREE. And after awhile they get to know you and you don't have order your drinks anymore, they just know what to bring you. Not many places like that here....at least none that I've been to.

Do yourself a favor and check out Mike's Place.

BEST BAR IN NW HOUSTON. I like going Saturday nights when they have karaoke. The place is great. The staff is so nice. We went there once then came back 2 months later and the same waitress remembered us. That was great! Now we go back everytime we want some drinks. We even look up the weirdest drinks that we can find on the iphone and they are happy to make them for us. =)

Local Bar - Great Time. What a great time tonight.

I have been going to Mike's for a while now. The waitstaff rocks. They are attentive and spend time getting to know you - after you have been in a few times remember your name and will spend time chatting and such during times when it's slow but when it get's busy they kick into high gear and BAM......get the job done.

I will say that the bathrooms could use some updating but aside from that - Mike's Place is very much a local bar with a casual appeal. It's got sports on TV and pool tables. shuffleboard.....dart boards.... Golden Tee and Virtual Bowling. For peeps that like sitting at the bar it has bar tabletop games that a fun to play alone or as a group.

Bands on Friday and Karoakee (sp is wrong i am sure) on Tues and Saturday. I've been there on a Thursday as well and it's fun too cause there is Texas Hold'em. I don't play but it's fun to watch.

there's something to appeal to all ages 21 to 101.

Well - I'm about done telling you about it - had another great time tonight but, by all means, come see for youself - let's make it a great party - dress casual or wear your sunday best...........it's all good........lol

Not a horrible bar, but service ruins the place for me. I've been trying this place out for a few weeks since it is right down the street from my apartment. Primarily on Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday night is live bands, which seems to alternate between a good group of younger talent who do requests, and another group fronted by an older lady who seem to primarily play what they want. The younger group who take requests is strongly preferred.

Saturday nights is karaoke with DJ Donovan. Entertaining, but the usual crowds' performances can be cringe-inducing at times.

Other than that it is nothing special. Mostly couples/groups, not too many attractive singles. Darts, hurling, pool, and Golden Tee/Megatouch are in the mix. Dirty main room, filthy restrooms. The usual.

Sounds decent? It's ok. But personally I may never go here again. It is close and the tequila drinks are cheap. But the service is horrible.

This was I think my 4th or 5th time there. I go back to the bar for my second and final drink. And for some reason it seems like nobody is taking my order for quite a while. Finally when there is a lull in the action the sole male bartender comes up and I try to place a drink order.

I ask, "Can I get a tequila sunrise and a water?"

Suddenly he starts telling me something like, "you know we only make $2 per hour."

Failing to realize the urgency of his request and realizing that he wants more money than I put out (re: he was demanding a tip) I have to apologize as I had only brought exactly enough for the two drinks I am ordering. "Sorry, dude, I don't have any more than that on me."

"You never do," he says in reply.

He doesn't really know if I have or haven't ever tipped. Guy short-changed me before then to get a tip previously. So no warning, no "tip us next time", just refused service for not tipping right then, and basically told I'm a cheapskate at a dive bar.

Mike: please start paying your people a fair wage, and maybe teach them to have some tact.

Great place. I've been going to Mike's Place for years now and love it. The staff takes care of you no matter if its your first time in the door or a regular. Great pool tables, darts, and the like.

The crowd is of all ages and everyone gets along well, most end up singing together as well.

They have surprisingly good food there as well. Not to mention the big a$s beers for a good price.

It can get a little smokey inside but the fans and air filters work well.

AWESOME STAFF THEY KNOW HOW TO CARE 4 U!!!. I have only been in the area for a little while, However I have been at Mike's several nights of the week. The Staff is AWESOME! They know how to take care of your needs. They have 4 pool tables, darts, shuffel board and video games are all there to enjoy. Bands are there on Friday Nights Have seen some real good shows. Tuesday and Saturday they have Karaoke it is way too loud when crowd isn't in... I have really enjoyed my time here so far.... need more single men!!!!
