Dont get fooled by the outside look, this place is THE BOMB – At first when you arrive at the place, from the outside you might think that you landed in a ghetto, but you cannot be further from the truth.
When you head inside you might think that the place is a little run down, but all this just adds to the atmosphere of the bar. No matter what you order from the menu, it is ALWAYS fresh. The food is absolutely delicious and is probably better then most of the "Italian" restaurants out there who put their mind and money into the decor rather than the food. The portions are very big and will make sure that you leave this place full, happy and satisfied.
The service is fast and friendly. I particularly like that the owner and his wife are also there most of the time, showing that they actually care about this place and are not just there to make money.
So if you are looking for a bar that is easy on your wallet, has a good atmosphere, friendly service and serves delicious Italian food, then this place is absolutely for you.
Bar, Restaurant, and CATERER! – Nick's place has been a favorite of mine for some time now, but recently I had the pleasure of experiencing how AWSOME their catering service is! My company had the opportunity to serve a holiday dinner for a local charity. We contacted several caterers and Nick's just blew them away on selection and price. Since I was responsible for feeding almost 100 people for this event I was a wreck, but Nick was not. The day of the event everything was made fresh, I witnessed it myself! Nick delivered and set up, everything was a HUGE success. The charity was expecting BBQ or pizza and we delivered an awesome Italian feast. People were blown away by the food, the selection and taste were more than they were accustomed to from past sponsored dinners. Nick's hit it out of the park! Nick's Place is now my first choice for catering!
Best sports bar in the area – I have been going to Nick's for years now, and it is by far the most comfortable sports bar/restaurant in the area. No matter what time of day you go, you are likely to see Nick or Cindy or both. They care deeply about their business, and it shows.
The menu is as varied as you will find anywhere. They have the usual bar fare of wings, chips, etc., but the main course meals are terrific as well. The steaks and pasta are personal favorites, but you owe it to yourself to try the pizza burger as well.
It's a great place to gather your friends to watch sporting events, especially on college football Saturdays, NFL Sundays or for any big UFC event.
The atmosphere might be the best part of Nick's. Nick and Cindy are friendly and responsive to customers, and the staff follows their lead. Many of the staff have been there for years and are familiar faces. But even the new members of the team keep up the standards. We recently dealt with a brand new staffer (Ruth), and she was friendly, provided fantastic service and made us feel like we had known her for years -- just like the rest of the staff at Nick's.
If you want flashy, upscale and presumptious, Nick's isn't for you. But if you want a friendly, casual safe atmosphere to watch sports, drink with friends, get a first-rate meal or just goof off after work, this is your place. Next time you are in the area you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Great Bar Great Staff – My wife and I have been there many times. We love it! The pizza burger (yep, they have one) is unbelievable. Don’t be afraid to get it cooked medium to medium rare!
We love the staff and the other customers. We live a long ways away – Sugar Land, but it is easy to get a taxi and the owner and staff will take you home if needed – and we have needed it.
We love watching all sports there because everyone gets into it. We have even hung out with our college rivals (football) and had a blast. Shots for the winner and loser.
Over the past 5 years, we have seen Nick and Cindy do nothing but improve the scene. Love a bar that keeps putting it back into their place.
Hope they let us back!
Alright. – I got a Chicken Arugula pizza with alfredo sauce. It was packed high with toppings but was very bland and sloppy.
Great food, all your sports – Perfect place to watch ALL of your games in HD. Not only is the pizza great but they've added some awesome burgers to the menu. The staff is friendly and the place isn't so big that you can never get a drink.
My idea of Paradise – I have been going to Nick's Place for years. Great food, more tv's with sports than one can handle, and a staff second to none.
NASTY PLACE!!! – I have a friend that always enjoyed this place and tonight, 09/27/09 we decided to take my friend's brother and sister in law...what a disappointment!!! Girls were flashing and sitting on guys lap pretending obscene movements...I was very embaressed!!!I did not call the police, because the owner was involved in this ridiculous scene!!! !!!when leaving one of the girls that was flashing before had taken her entire shirt off....i got mad and told her I was going to call the police, and off course they all yeld to me to get out of there which of course I did and would never go back!!!I am sure Nick lost a lot of customers tonight, at least 4 of us that just wanted to have some pizza and enjoy the game...
Great Local place to hang out and watch sporting events – This is a great bar for people, who want to hangout, eat some good food, get some good priced drinks, and watch sports.
I recommend the pizzas (some of the best in the metropoltian Houston area), pizzadillas, chips and queso (all homemade), steak night steaks on the weekend, cannolis, chicken wings, and much, much more. Great place to go to watch the sporting events (and especially the ones that no one in the area seems to have available to watch).
The staff is really nice and the service is normally great (only time there is issues is potentially when the places is so busy that people are hanging from the rafters and as a result, service is slower). The only time I have seen any of the staff ever get snippy with a customer is when a patron is being downright rude to them. I have never had issues ordering take-out.
The shopping center that this bar is in may have seen better days, but I would not call this area of Houston questionable (if I were to call this area questionable, I would call the Galleria, Highland Village, etc. questionable too).
What a great place to be! – I was moving to the area, 10 years ago and happened to stop in for lunch. I ordered the Chicken Fettucine Pizza. OMG... it was so awesome! I was hooked. The staff was great and made me feel at home. I went back that night and met the owner (Nick). What a great guy. He made me feel like family, as I have learned he does for all of his customers.
10 years later and I am still going to Nicks Place, even though I live way out in Richmond, TX. The beer is still ice cold, the food is still great.
Thank you Nick and Cyndi for a great place to watch sports, eat, drink, unwind and meet other good people.
