Editorial Review for Houston Country Club – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Houston Country Club, the city's first, can trace its roots back almost 100 years. It moved in the late 1950s to its current location, featuring a layout that stood the test of time. World-famous designer Robert Trent Jones created the course along Buffalo Bayou. One of the best holes is also its most difficult. No. 2 is a 457-yard par four that plays exceedingly long. The par-threes are no picnic either. The most difficult is the 224-yard ninth.

A hangout for all of Houston's most elite people the Houston Country Club is a private club that caters to the super rich. Unlike other area clubs like the Houstonian this clus will not just let any rif-raf become a member. The club has a strict policy of who they let in and just because you have money does not mean you are going in, you must also show excellent maners, good taste and nothing but civilized behavior. If you can do all this there still is the $10,000 membership fee and the required nomination by a member.
Pros: Private, only VIPs
Cons: none
