After a bad, long week I was looking forward to one of my best friend's wedding on the weekend. I had an appointment at another salon the day before I traveling for the wedding (in Indiana the next day) only to find out that the salon that I scheduled my appointment with had closed without any notice! In a panic I did not know what to do so I googled salons in the area. Vanity was listed as one of the best salons so I decided to try and see if they had any availability. Unfortunately, they had no openings...at this point I was almost to tears as I could not get my hair done before my best friends wedding. So, I decided to let them know my situation and the receptionist was gracious enough to plead for one of the stylist to try and fit me in. Finally, I heard some great news. James and Kelly had decided to stay beyond normal business hours to help me out and give me my much needed haircut and highlights! I was so excited and my experience at Vanity was no doubt one of the best (if not the best!) salon experiences I have ever had. The attention to detail by James and Kelly was amazing and my hair could not have turned out better...literally the best haircut I have had. I am so grateful for this salon. I will be back for sure! I highly recommend this place to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

By Far The Best Salon I Have Ever Been To. I have been going to Vanity Salon for the past 5 years now and I absolutely love it. I have had my hair done by Claudia, Alex, James, Kelly, Katalina and have loved them all. I am not an easy client either, I have been going back and forth from brunette to blonde every year at least once a year and the stylists have made me look amazing every time. I also had a Brazilian Blowout done by Katalina, which I could not be more happy with, it has lasted for about four months now. I would highly recommend Vanity Salon, it is a beautiful salon with very professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Also check out their Recessionista Tuesdays and referral program.

I Would Never Let Anyone Else Touch My Hair. I have been going to this salon since I was 19 yrs. old & I am turning 31 in two days (SO THAT SHOULD TELL YOU A LOT).....

Eve is hands down the best esthetician EVER!!! With her massages, waxing & facials - she is fantastic & treats you like a princess during the sessions to relax, soothe & comfort you.

I was introduced to Gracie for my first wash & blow-dry 12 years ago where not only did (does) she offer the latest & greatest styles, color, highlight & cut, but it feels like I'm gossiping w/one of my best gal pals everytime I sit in her chair. We are very dear friends & I cherish our relationship that we've built.

The salon has grown massively in the past year, but everytime I walk thru those doors I hear that song from "Cheers" in my head -- "Where everybody knows your name". LOL - because it is a salon with a caring and personable staff that makes you feel welcome & and assists w/all requests and supports in detail all the products they utilize for your personal needs.

In conclusion rest assure at Vanity Salon you are surrounded by the most talented and professional stylist in Houston and you will find yourself returning again and again due to all the compliments you will be receiving from the spotlight perfection treatments you engage.

Worst hair cut of my life, still traumatized weeks later…. I recently tried out Vanity Salon as I was looking for a new salon as my old stylist on occasion got a bit heavy handed. I also liked that they were an Aveda Concept Salon. I looked online and saw prices were ranging from $50-$90. I thought $50 looked a bit low for a decent hair cut in Houston so when I called I told the receptionist I wanted to be with someone that was experienced and good with long hair.

I went in and asked for a cut of around two inches with some long layers. I received a cut of five inches off the perimeter and horrible layers. The haircut is a technical nightmare. The hair is layered unevenly (not uneven in a funky way) and the heavy side on my hair is now thinner than the other side. This is pretty bad as I wear a deep side part. The layers are so short on one side they fall out of my pony tail.

Not only is my hair too short with bad layers its flat out ugly and out of date. I went from long hair to the Jennifer Aniston shag circa 1993! To fix the situation, or at least to get it to a point I can wear my hair down, I would need to cut at least 2-1/2 – 3 inches off of the bottom. I am too traumatized for that right now so will be in ponytail for months to come. The one positive note is they took my complaints seriously and their customer service was great. They refunded my money and offered me a pedicure. However, great customer service can’t fix my hair.

I am so sorry I cheated on you Riaro Salon!

Won't be returning. I rarely write a bad review but in this case I'm going to. I want to be fair here so let me preface it by saying that if you're new to Houston and looking for a place to get your hair done that won't ruin it in one cutting or coloring, this is a pretty safe bet. It's a busy, fairly upscale salon and the stylists are experienced.

However, after a few years of being a customer I've decided not to return due to being treated rather badly at one appointment. Because of that I tried a few other salons and found that there are many good ones out there that actually are better than this one.

My experience happened one day when the salon was busy with a wedding party. Since I have a small child and can only get my hair done on a day when my husband can babysit and he works long hours, the times that I can go are really limited. I called one day and they said they had an appointment for color, but no cut and the color appt. wasn't with my regular stylist. That was fine. I would just have to go another time for the cut, although it was going to be awhile. Just as I was about to hang up, the appointment scheduler said, almost as an afterthought, that they didn't have anyone to dry my hair after the color. I wasn't really worried about that anyway. The big thing was getting the color. Then she said, "But you could probably grab a dryer and do it yourself". Great, I said. And that was that.

When I arrived, the girl did the color and that was fine. The girl shampooing me afterwards said, "there's no one to dry you," in a rather loud scolding voice. "You need to ask for that next time". I was a little embarrassed because I already knew that, but I didn't explain it to her as it didn't matter that much.

So, I went to the front and asked for a dryer. Instead of getting a dryer, the guy at the front went to get my regular stylist, who was already busy with another customer and I hadn't even had an appt. with her that day.

When she walked over, she didn't even speak to me or say hello. Nothing. Keep in mind, I'd been going to her for a couple of years. She begrudgingly just began to dry my hair and got the front part partially dry and then said "Ok, you have to go. My client is ready."

I turned around really shocked. I said "Well, could I at least use a dryer." She snapped back "NO, I NEED THIS. I NEED THIS." Well, I wasn't asking for HER dryer. I just wanted my hair dry enough to leave in colder weather so I wouldn't get sick.

At this point though I was starting to feel really embarrassed and upset. I hadn't ask her to do anything. The guy at the front had.

So, I went to another stylist and asked for a dryer. She gave me one and I sat down and started to dry my hair. It was a horrible experience. I was treated badly when I had been a faithful customer for years.

Sometimes when things like that happen you get over them and realize maybe it was just a bad day for someone or whatever. But I just couldn't excuse that behavior. I couldn't imagine treating a customer like that.

As a result, I've visited several other salons in the area and found that there are some really good ones, including Salon on Woodway and Uruku Salon on Westheimer, among others that aren't bad, but those are the two best I've been to since.

WOW!! What a great Aveda salon!!. I just flew in from Brussels, Belgium in desparate need of color and cut. I wanted an Aveda salon and was not disappointment in the service; the appointment was made within 24 hours; the receptionist staff were extremely friendly and professional; the rates were reasonable; and the facility was warm and inviting (I loved the massaging chair while getting my shampoo!) My colorist was Alex and my sytlist was Alesksandra. Alex quickly assessed my color and made a fabulous choice to correct recent coloring problems. Alesksandra did the same, quickly assessing the style and cutting to perfection. I would highly recommended them both and I plan to return on my next trip. What a delightful find. I couldn't be more pleased with the entire team at Vanity Salon. THANK YOU!!

Best Hair Salon!!!. I absolutely LOVED my first (but not last) visit to Vanity. I have been to Aveda salons before, but this one is simply the best! I had colored my hair with dark brown box coloring for about a year and wanted something lighter and matching my pale skin color better. I called Vanity after reading their reviews and knowing that the location was close to home... I was booked for the next day for full highlights and a cut. When I walked in for my appointment I was greeted friendly by the front desk staff, who gave me a quick tour and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Everyone was so nice and helpful! I only waited 5 minutes for my colorist/stylist, Claudia, to greet me. She spoke with me about what I wanted. I wanted my hair lighter, but I did not want my hair blonde. She consulted another colorist to make sure we were on the same page about what I wanted. My hair was difficult to color due to the fact my roots were light brown and my ends practically black from the box coloring. Claudia was very up-front that my hair may take a few visits to get the results I wanted. She took her time to make sure my roots and ends would match. She wasn't only concerned about my color, but the integrity of my hair as well. It did take awhile, but in the meanwhile she offered me plenty of good magazines and even some wine! Then she cut my hair better than I have had it in years. In the end my hair turned out so beautiful... I feel like a new woman! She did exactly what I wanted... even better. I even got a complementary makeup touch-up in the end. From start to finish I had a spectacular experience. There were no pushy tactics to get me to buy their products. I cannot wait until my next appointment! I started my new job the following day and felt so confident, like I could take on anything. As I left Vanity, the workers were all telling me "good luck on your first day of work". It just goes to show they really listen and care for their customers. Thanks again so much!!!
