Cellar Door Cheese Spread!!!. I too am a fourth generation native Houstonian - I ate for years at the Cellar Door Restaurants and I have been on a search for 20 years for the receipe for that delicious cheese spread they served with whipped butter and bread! If there is anyone who would have this recipe my family would be so excited to have it! That would be a Christmas present for sure - or if you know how I can get it that will work too! Thanks so much, HouGirl

For the Love Of BBQ Stay Away. Chicken dry and tasted like starter fluid. This was the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. Please for the love of BBQ shut this place down. If you take a guest to this establishment be prepared to lose face. The pickles were good. That is this best I can offer in a way of a reference. I have been grilling for years, i have eaten BBQ from just about every area of Texas and some beyond but to this day I never thought I would be writing a comment to tell people to stay away from BBQ. They offer only grilled chicken breast and not the whole smoked chicken. That would be ok if it were not for the fact it taste as though the breast were marinated in lighter fluid before being turned into jerky. I could not even bring myself to finish the meal. The people at this resturant need to purchase some BBQ at another establishment sit down with that purchase and their own product and compare. There is no doubt the out come would be to close down and go out of business. You can not teach people to cook that poorly. So, please for the love of BBQ stay away if not for you do it for Texas. No star is their rating.

A simple, old-school barbecue joint in the super-slick Southwest area.. The Scene
Hard to miss, with its bright red paint job and shocking pink signage, Baker's Ribs is equally hard to dislike. This comfortable Southwest-area barbecue joint knows the key to success is in the smoky meat it serves, not spiffy decor or happy hour specials. Order at the counter and eat at simple tables with rolls of paper towels for your napkins. This isn't the best 'cue in town, but it beats the heck out of most franchise establishments.

The Food
Despite the name, a lot more than ribs is available: fork-tender beef brisket, chunks of pork, zippy hot sausage, ham, chicken, even turkey. The sauce comes in squeeze bottles and it's tasty enough to sop up with the requisite gummy white bread. Traditional side orders are decent--white potato salad, not mustardy yellow--but it's a little puzzling to see marinated tomatoes and pasta salad in the lineup.

good food. Good food - but left a hungry. Ordered ribs, it came with sides - but not enough food for one person. Smoke was very good on the ribs. Nice BBQ theme ambience, tables were decorated, and equipped with all you needed ... sauce! The staff was friendly. Still...hungry!

Best in Houston. I was born here and only the old Cellar Door comes close to the Baker's Ribs bbq.. Their rib plate is mouth watering good!!
