Old Heidleberg German restaurant

I come from Chicago where Germantown and all ethnic restaurants are just the best. I went to this restrant about 15 years ago, and continued to go there for the music and being single, to meet guys and giriends there. It was a meeting place for the plus fifty crowd and it was fun. Now it just reminds me of a quiet restaurant that has fallen quietly into dispair. The food was not what I remembered and I wasn't give the cabbage and rye at the table free. Everything was costly and did not have that special flair I remembered.The Weinerschnichel was too crisp and not enough vegs......everything was dipped and fryed. All in all, I wish this place was the same as I remembered, but I guess that's too much to ask. There used to be another German restaurant off Post Oak.......Does anybody remember the name???

Great Food! Gutes Essen!

The food was really amazing, and the waiter was incredibly attentive for how busy he was. Very friendly!

The atmosphere is rather loud, but could be entertaining for a weekend night. We were expecting a full German experience, but it was quite Americanized. None the less, we will definitely go back. :-)

WIENERWICH

It?s me again. It was on Friday January 30th, 2009, and what a great way to start a new year. I came in around 7:30pm to meet with a group of friend. Even though, I ate early (5:30pm) and was not ?that hungry?; But knowing that I would have to stay for awhile, I decided to order something to eat so I would not go home hungry.

I requested to speak to the owner and ask to see if they have something light. The cook came out and suggested something she recently came up with, it is called ?WIENERWICH?. It is a Wienerschnitzel sandwich on a white toasted bun (instead of rye bread) with lettuce and melted swiss cheese, it has a special spread which enhanced the flavour of the meat, so good that I had to take a second bite before putting it down and opened it up to see what?s inside. The order also came with german potato infused with bacon and onion and garnished with slices of tomatoes and pickles. I washed it down with a cold glass of ?Paulaner?. For those who prefer other kind of meat, The Old Heidelberg also offers the wienerwich with chicken.
