“Not the first place I would recommend for a romantic dinner, but what this place has as its main strong point is very good Thai food.”
“If you like Thai food they way it is suppose to be (Hot and spicy)not Westernized like the other Thai Restaurants Hint(Nit Noi) then you will love this place.”
“Everything on the menu is excellent.”
“It is by far my favorite restaurant because of the friendly service and excellent food.”
“The wait staff was very attentive, which was nice but at times it was to the point of hovering.”
“Wonderful little restaurant, good choice of thai dishes at a very reasonable price.”

A bit off the beaten path, Thai Gourmet is worth the trip outside the loop. Ambiance is nice, with Thai music playing the background, gold-accented wall decor and a chalkboard mural depicting Thai life on the wall. Menu is extensive, but a good bet is the chicken lemongrass soup (tom kha gai), the beef with basil, and Penang beef.
Best Thai food in Houston.
My mom lived in Thailand for several years and makes Thai dishes quite often. My mom's yellow curry is THE BEST. Ever since I went off to college, I always crave her yellow curry. Thai Gourmet is the first restaurant I have come across that tastes authentic, and I've been to several in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Their yellow curry tastes just like my mom's. I LOVE IT! Most Thai restaurants cook their potatoes separately and just throw them into the curry when a customer places an order. The potatoes don't soak up the curry flavor and end up being bland and undercooked. At Thai Gourmet, I think they cook the potatoes in the curry because the potatoes were exactly the way I like them.
Their levels of spiciness are unlike those at other Thai restaurants, so be extra careful when specifying how spicy you want your dish. In fact, I would ask for the waiter/waitress' advice.
I highly recommend Thai Gourmet! I will never go to another Thai restaurant in Houston!
authentic thai.
If it's rated top 100 Thai Restaurants in the US, you better believe it.
The Pad Thai is like no other. I guess I had been eating the Americanized one. Hot is really hot, and I wouldn't try Thai Hot unless you want to be on the toilet all day. Spicy Cheese rolls don't sound Thai at all, but they are well worth an order. I have yet to try the whole menu, but everything I have tried so far leaves me very satisfied and empty plates.
Best Thai Food. Period.. This is the best thai food around. Try the spicy cheese rolls, satay, garlic chicken, and spicy chicken noodle. But beware! Hot is HOT!!! (I love hot food, but i order medium hot). The service is attentive and Kru Pong (owner, ) is always smiling and makes you feel welcome.
Best Thai Styled Food in Houston.
Dee mak, aroy!
Great Thai influenced food. Must admit I never saw cheese in Thailand. They do a great job of blending flavors, texture and color.
Go off menu if you dare. Let them choose the foods and heat level based on Thai traditions. You will not be disappointed.
Curries are very convincing. Massuman is complex and satisfying without removing mouth tissue from excess heat.
Basil based dishes are very authentic tasting. Fish dishes are excellent, fresh and light.

Excellent Food, great personal service. This is one of my favorite places. The environment is authentic, the mural on the wall is amazing, you must visit this restaurant just to admire it. The food is amazing, I highly reccomend the Pang Nang, the cheese rolls, and their spring rolls. Service is fast. The establishment is small, but worth it. Their to-go packaging is wonderful. The plastic containers really help lock in the heat so its not stone cold when you get home.
disappointed. I order the pad thai medium spicy. It was way too spicy and was bland. I will not be coming back again.
Great Food.
I have been here several times and the food is great. Wonderful little restaurant, good choice of thai dishes at a very reasonable price. The wait staff are very attentive and helpful.
In my opinion this is one of the best thai places in town.
Must try the cheese rolls. Okay, now even the chef told me that her cheese rolls recipe is not authentic but I am telling you that it is to die for, thai or not. It's a little on the spicy side. Also try the coconut juice she has. The sweet juice is a perfect compliment to the spicy cheese rolls.
Popular Thai eatery serves up spicy authenticity and attentive care to its loyal customers..
In Short
Tucked away in an old retail strip on Richmond lies Houston's answer for genuine Thai cuisine that may burn your taste buds, but certainly not your pocketbook. An intimate and dark dining room is tastefully decorated and provides the perfect setting for a romantic evening or festive group outing. The knowledgeable and friendly staff offers guidance to first-timers with a caring hand creating life-long patrons in the process.
Best authentic Thai food in town. First off, I'm Thai who knows how to cook Thai dishes pretty well and I gotta say this place is simply amazing. The chef maintains the authenticity of real Thai food pretty well considering how hard it is to find all the required ingredients here in the US to make real Thai dishes. Thai food at other places are too westernized, at least to me and to many real Thai people I talked with in Houston. I love the place and it's now one of my only three favorite Thai restaurants in Houston!
