The Scene – The initial impression at the conveniently named Thai Restaurant is of the gentle, accommodating staff--they sure want you to be there. No wonder Thai families, budget lunchers and high-spirited eaters keep the business brisk. The precarious Westheimer Road shopping-strip image goes soft inside with natural bamboo screens, pretty green lotus-leaf plates and other soothing Thai touches. – – The Food – Classic pad thai is triumphant, sans sweetness: Silky rice noodles and succulent snow peas are dusted with crushed peanuts and spiked with coconut and lime…
Delicious every time!
by katyonok
I have been going to Thai Restaurant for over three years now and have not been dissapointed a single time. The food is always top-notch, and so is the service.
The best part: I have never had to wait long to be seated, the host and the waiters are always very accommodating, and the atmosphere is nice, romantic, and quiet. I have NEVER had anyone at this place treat me remotely close to what the other reviewers are describing. Never seen an error on the check, never received the check before we finished eating, certainly never had anyone throw the check down at the table.
Food-wise: flambet-style chicken breast, chicken massaman, any of the curries, and tom ka gai soup are to die for! And as far as spicy food goes - you can tell them to turn the heat up or down depending on your taste, for any dish. Also, coconut juice for a drink is a big favorite.
- Pros: best Thai food in town, ample parking, never crowded
