“This by far the worst customer service department of any service organization that I have ever experienced.”
Don't Use these Rip Off Artists. My rental property's air conditioning unit was leaking in the bathroom. I called ARS and the technician told me the entire unit needed replacing. I paid $2,400 dollars for a new unit only for my tenant to tell me three days later that the new unit was leaking. ARS then came and replaced a leaky pipe for $150.00 dollars that was the problem all along. I took a tremendous unnecessary financial loss on a unit that had been replaced by ARS less than ten years prior.
Anything to rip you off. Water main break between meter and my house. They fixed it with copper tubing when PVC was all that was needed. They attached the copper to the PVC which I understand doesn't pass city inspection. Guess that's no problem because they didn't pull a permit for the job anyway and the city can't inspect it. To top it off, they left the two ends of the job uncovered for inspection and never came back to cover up the holes. Also had a hot water heater installed and they never got the inspection on that either. They are all about the money; anything to do to get your money. They half ass everything. Worse than a 1 star.
Failed to do the job/Won't reschedule to come back!.
Calling them on a Monday morning netted an appointment on Wednesday for a hot water heater that went out. Okay, I understand if they are understaffed for the volume of calls they are getting. But the guy came and left without verifying that I had hot water. Still no hot water. I called ARS back and they said that I had to call American Home Shield (my warranty service that selected ARS), but added that their systems and phone lines are down. I asked to at least book an appointment since I paid my $60 copay direct to ARS and it was them that failed to fix the problem AND I couldn't reach the warranty company. They refused to even book an appointment. I called back and asked for a supervisor, who would cut me off while I was talking (must be something they teach, since the 1st person I talked to did the same thing). She was flip with me and had no regard for the fact that their service technician failed to fix the problem. No ownership, apology, empathy, nothing.
ARS is horrible at customer service, particularly when they fail to perform the work they were paid to do.
OK but stop the sales pitch. Previous reviewer was right. They tried selling me a new unit 2-3 times during the service call. Tech was a nice guy and fixed the unit but he seemed too interested in trying to sell me something I told him the first time I just can't afford. I don't blame the tech but I do blame ARS for requiring him to be both the service and sales man. I had considered using their electrical and plumbing service as well but I think I'll shop around. I just need service people to provide good service...not try to get me to spend money on something I don't want or need.
Don't be conned. Don't be conned like I was. I was told I needed a new A/C, coils, duct wok and a compressor. When I was still having problems I was sold on buying a new furnace because it was affecting my a/c and I would continue to have problems. Don't be fooled. The ARS techs they send out are sales men. My total costs $8,000. in debt. In 99 degree weather and painting my new home, I was desperate.

Grab your wallet.. I actually interviewed and was hired by these guys four years ago. After thinking it over, I decided there was too much money to be earned honestly than to do what ARS wants from their "employees." Almost all of their techs are on commission only. If they don't sell you a new system they don't make any money. Even then they aren't making much while ARS is charging at the top of the scale. They work techs six days a week, eleven hours a day. Your one off day rotates. You don't have many long term employees. Find a locally owned company.
Technician Late - Terrible Customer Service. This by far the worst customer service department of any service organization that I have ever experienced. I was scheduled for a 6:00-8:00 p.m. appointment and at 11:30 p.m. they were still making excuses and assuring me that the technician was on his way. By midnight (and after numerous calls from me) I was told that I would be the first call in the morning. After calling in the morning I was told that a technician would be out after they finish their next call (another lie). Not one of my calls was ever returned. ARS is the worst compnay in Houston hands-down.
AC repair is a joke!. I called ARS to repair my AC. They sent out a technician who stated that the entire AC unit needed to be replaced because the fan motor and compressor were out. I called my home waranty service to have them replace the AC unit as recommended by ARS. The waranty service tech came out and was on my roof for all of 5 min and he had the AC on and blowing cold air. When I asked him what was wrong, he said it was a loose wire. If I had followed the advice of ARS, I would have spent close to $4000 - instead, I spent $49.95 and my AC is working again.
