We have been going to the Palm for years and have had the same waiter for years. I have never ever been disappointed by anything that I've ordered. This is the only place that I will order a steak at because I know that it will be delicious and worth it. They have an excellent wine list and great desserts-the chocolate cake is a must have. Great place for steak and lobster, but all other dishes are great too! The restaurant also has a great space for parties and a private room for a larger dinner.
consistently excellent. I've been going to Palm for 55 years - originally to the original in NYC. Never disappointed - always look forward to the next time. Drinks, food & wine always up to the same standard. Excellent waiters - maybe not as fast as some people expect, but are you there to dine or eat? Just right pace of service for me.
Disappointment. This place was highly recommended and left alot to be desired. The service was excellent but the food was terrible. The bread was stale, the salad was wilted, the steak was definately overcooked. The food was comparable to something you would get at a cafetaria.
great lobster and sea bass. the lobster was to die for and better than Pappas Steakhouse. staff was the best we have ever experienced. lobster bisque was good but not enough meat like Capital Grille.
Upscale steakhouse rewards high-profile patrons by immortalizing their likenesses in colorful caricatures..
In Short
With its Italian-tinged menu and playful artwork on the walls, this national chain (which got its start in 1926) maintains a congenial atmosphere even as corporate patrons use company credit cards to pay for 36-ounce New York strips or jumbo lobsters. Sitting in dark wood chairs placed at tables topped in white linen, suit-jacketed gents and ladies sup on prime steaks, chops and hearty portions of classic Old World dishes like spaghettini marinara and veal piccata.
great service... Not-so-great first experience. I had high expectations since it's one of my friend's top steakhouse choices but I'd beg to differ. Steak was over-cooked and a bit under seasoned. Even with a reservation, we waited close to an hour for our table. The bar area gets very noisy and crowded so I wouldn't suggest it if you want to actually have a conversation. However, the service was GREAT! I'd be willing to give it one more try... perhaps, on a week night.
Fabulous lunch!!.
Best lunch deal intown! $20 get you a great steak, veggies along with a dessert!
Best bartenders intown!!
Good Food, Ok Atmosphere.
My wife and I recently went on a Saturday night with two friends out ours and really enjoyed our dinner. There is a good variety of foods to choose from in case everyone does not want a steak or lobster. Our table had fish (Ahi Tuna), Pork (Marsala like disk) and two steaks. All the meals were good but one of the steaks was ordered very rare and came out too close to medium rare.
Service was excellent and we even received a free dessert since it was our first trip.
The only negative is that since the room is very noisy and it was difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling.
Just like New York, in Houston!. I love the old style of this restaurant... the decor, painted walls... very retro New York in the 50's and 60's. Our steaks came out perfectly prepared and sizzling. The well-to-do mostly male business crowd lent an air of conservative republicanism to the meal. The service was tremendous and the bill was too. No problem- I'll expense it!
The best lobster in town!. If you're going here for anything except the lobster, you are going wrong! Seriously, I don't think I have ever had better lobster in this city. They fly them in from Nova Scotia and weigh 3-5 lbs. I would also highly recommend their caprese salad made with buffallo mozzarella. If you're going for steak, there are better places in the city, but nothing beats The Palm for lobster!
