Editorial Review for Sensia Studio and Japanese Day Spa – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Pull open the tall carved doors and leave Houston behind as you are transported to another place. The Eastern environment is especially chic, with birchwood, stone, metal, terra cotta sinks and seagrass flooring. Behind the authentic shoji screens, a variety of treatments are offered, including hair and lash extensions, Ashiatsu (Oriental bar massage), Zen facials and Sensia's signature warm stone massage and warm stone pedicures. The spa's anti-humidity cosmetics are a favorite for Houston brides and everyday wear.

I received a gift certificate for a Spa Pedicure & Manicure at Sensia and truly love the experience. This was not an average so so pedicure that one gets at the nail shops in strip centers. My manicurist, Tracie, was gentle, thorough and gave me a "much longer than expected" feet massage and reflexology with warm stones. The procedure was performed complete with exfoliant, mask, hot towels ...etc.... all for $60.00. The manicure was just as pampered with salt scrub and hot towels. One month later I came back for another pedicure and my polish was not a bit chipped. I have since recommended to my friends and coworkers and they all love it as well. The bottom line is if you want your feet and hands to be pampered come to Sensia and ask for Tracie -- sweet, positive attitude and gives great service.

Pros: great location .... greater manicures & pedicures

Cons: current remodeling constructions was not pleasant

Melissa and Cynthia do an amazing job at makeup. They did my makeup and my entire bridal party and everyone looked fabulous. The only thing that irritated me was that the bride gets charged $25 more and I don't really understand how that is justified. But they make you look fabulous so I recommend them no matter what. They are so much better than Facade, because they provide a natural elegant look, which is what you want in your pictures. Many people post comments about the staff in the front, and that is still true. I have been going here for over 8 years and while the front desk staff has gotten much better, there are still some cranky, rude women that work up there. Yes, the male that works in the front is pleasant. Cynthia, please talk to them and let them know so I don't have to warn the friends that I send to your salon.

Pros: Makeup artists!

Cons: Staff in the front of the salon
