“Their Tres Leches cake was delicious, moist through and through.”
“The Shrimp Diablo was awesome, fresh jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon and bell peppers with some kind of cheese, M-M-M GOOD!”
“While the tamales were great (and someone at the table enjoyed their fish tacos), the margaritas are way too strong and more importantly the service was subpar.”
“The food is really good and a great price.”
bad service- good food.
My mom requested this place for a Mother's Day bruch last Sunday. She normally goes to the Buffalo Speedway location and has had a good experience. I personally had a bad experience at the BerryHill on 45South near Friendswood about a year ago. Our order took forever and then came out wrong. We ended up leaving before we ate.
We walked in to the restaurant at about 11:20 and it was pretty much dead. There was a brunette with short hair ( bartender/hostess) standing behind one of the bars but she didnt acknowledge us. So, our group stood there for a second and tried to figure out where to order and how. After we walked to a sign that says order here, the girl behind the bar says we need to order with her at the other bar. She doesnt greet us or even smile. My first thought was- wow, she must hate her job! We order and go sit down. We all commented on how unhappy and miserable the girl seemed. She probably should not be the first person you interact with at any business- much less a restaurant. Other than that, the food was great and we enjoyed the patio.
I did vow to review the restaurant service because it was just that bad. Hubby even reminded me to do it yesterday.
Worst one in the chain!.
I frequent Berryhill's locations on Buffalo Speedway and Montrose, and I enjoy them for what they are. My visit to this location however, was very disappointing.
I ordered the nachos (which I've had numerous times), the roasted corn, and the tortilla soup. The soup and corn were both cold, ... ice cold. The staff was kind enough to heat up the soup and corn for my mom.
The nachos were an absolute train wreck. It was a slop of cheese and sour cream. There was a bit of beef here and there; it was a really horrible.
I will not return to that location.
Yummy.
So, I am just reviewing like crazy today....I loved this place my boyfrienmd and I ate here a few weeks ago. We loved it, Thankyou for a date night!! Rex really loved his food as well. We have been picking up to go orders like crazy!! We will be meeting friends there this weekend.

Bad Service. My date ordered a chicken dish. After 15-20 minutes it had not been brought out yet. I went to the front and they informed me they had lost the order so they started cooking it then and it came out 10 minutes later or so. I love that they have free chips and the food isn't bad but I was unimpressed with the service. The waiter seemed to give me a hard time about ordering a single enchilada however they are listed as a certain price for one.
Terrible customer service on management's part. Today is the first time I have had food from Berry Hill and where do I begin... First of all, I don't understand how they charge the prices for their portions. There is no place in Houston that charges ten dollars for a small plate of fajita meet with no rice or beans and little sides of queso and sour cream. Don't get me wrong, the food was good but all it is, is an expensive snack. My order was screwed up and I was charged for items I did not receive. They did offer to refund me my money or to replace the items, but it was at an unconvinced to me. The manager there was of no help at all and actually conducted business in a non professional manner. He decided to cop an attitude towards my co-worker when she called to let him know we were dissatisfied with the service. I have worked as a manager in the food service industry and know for a fact that she was miss-handled. The manager was out of line and should not have acted the way he did. I want my tip back from him after that. All in all, I would not recommend this place to anyone. If my first time eating there was a bad experience, why would I want someone I know eat at this establishment?
Simple Tex-Mex. It's alright for half-way decent Tex-Mex food. Don't plan to go there and wow new friends or a date.
Disappointed....
I was very impressed with the service, but the food was less than what I expected.
TAMALES: At that price, I don't expect to receive an average tasting tamale (especially their pork tamale). The bean tomale I ordered couldn't have been farther from what the name suggested. I struggled to see, let alone taste any beans.
BEANS: The "charro" beans were lukewarm. Food should be kept at extremes to prevent bacteria growth. Lukewarm beans calls into question their policy on food temperatures.
TACOS: The beef taco.. (tasted just like something from Taco Cabana)...
1) The tomato used wasn't exactly my favorite & ill-suited for tacos...
2) The beef, though juicy, was medium rare... ozzing redness is not appetizing...
On the positive side, their service was incredibly efficient. The server brought my order shortly after I had taken a seat.
Their Tres Leches cake was delicious, moist through and through.
BERRYHILL, A NO BRAINER. A friend of mine told me of this cool place to dine on Post Oak at San Felipe, so I said I would check it out. We ordered at the bar and was cheerfully greeted by the friendliest waitstaff, who made you feel right at home. The Shrimp Diablo was awesome, fresh jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon and bell peppers with some kind of cheese, M-M-M GOOD! We also had Fish Tacos, unbelievable, I'm hooked. After dinner we relaxed and talked over a couple of frozen Margaritas, Best I've ever had. Great experience, We've already been back three times.
service poor yet again.
I placed a to-go order over the phone at 11:51 AM. My order took 43 minutes as opposed to the 20 minutes I was told over the phone.
Furthermore, my order took so long because it was behind the bar. Someone placed it there and guessed I would find it on my own I suppose. At the 40 minute mark I asked a lady behind the counter to please help me find my order. She acted as I if I had interupted her in the middle of the most important conversation she was having with two other employees while 7-8 patrons waited to have their orders taken.
Not impressed. POOR SERVICE IS A THEME HERE. I shall not return.
This popular taqueria chain serves simple Mexican favorites with a perfect mix of kitsch and sophistication..
In Short
It's the food that keeps people coming back to Berryhill. Tamales are good, but the star is the fish taco. Sweet, farm-raised catfish fillets are lightly battered and fried, tucked into two corn tortillas, heaped with cilantro and red cabbage threads and drizzled with sweet hot sauce. Don't miss the shrimp-and-avocado salad, punched up with horseradish-spiked remoulade.
