“The Christmas decorations are always fun to see, though!”
“feel like I'm walking through the pages of Glamour, Elle, Lucky, but with my rude aunt shadowing me to make sure I don't touch the leather or fondle the cashmere.”
Kid in a candy store.
I used to do make-up freelance, so i'm no stranger to working behind the counter. Everytime i come into this store I sigh a big sigh of relief like- aah its so good to be home!
Out of my way ladies i'm headed to the chanel counter! I picked up a powder blush- it is flawless!!! I also cannot get enough of coco mademoiselle.
Always enjoy my shopping experience here. I only wish I didn't have to travel so far to get here... :'(
Learned a Shopping Lesson in the Mens Department.
Neiman Marcus has plenty of social shopping events. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook to find out about their impromptu lunch sales, makeover events with swag bags, and Last Call deals. They are an American classic, and their headquarters is based in Texas...gotta love them.
I never go down to the basement floor where the Gifts and Mens department quietly reside. I went recently with a friend and was surprised that the two male salespeople weren't jumping all over him, and it was a slow afternoon. I was actually relieved. One of the male salespeople had dirty fingernails and looked partied out, maybe he was just tired and having personal problems?
I was also surpised at all the murses and the small selection of mens' styles. My friend could not find anything he liked (he has everything by the way). I tried to get him to buy some of the Zoolander fashions for fun, but he didn't fall for it.
After 20 minutes of milling around, a more seasoned, female salesperson gave my friend plenty of attention. She sold him a $800 purple Brioni striped dress shirt and a bottle of cologne.
In an age of self help with online shopping and massive discount stores, I realized that there is still a need for "Needless MarkUp" and thanks to the need for ATTENTION. Things don't sell themselves, and there is still a need for the sales interaction between two humans. It really is retail therapy...some people like to feel important and want guidance.
Luxury department store combines haute couture and classic elegance..
In Short
In 1907, the first Neiman Marcus opened in Dallas. Today, you can buy ready-to-wear clothes at locations from coast to coast. Shelves hold merchandise from an all-star team of designers: Manolo Blahnik, Anne Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and more. The shoe department is small and upscale: think Fendi and Prada. Personal shoppers are available to track down the perfect Chanel nail polish to complement the Kate Spade bag that matches the DKNY skirt.
It's like your own fashion magazine.
I've never bought anything at NM except make-up. Too expensive, too trendy, and the sales people are downright snotty (with exceptions). If you're not dressed to the nines, you catch sneers from employees. However, I've had great luck with the Clinique counter. I usually prefer going to Sephora and letting them pamper me (they're so nice over there if you take the time to talk to them). The clothes at NM are too outrageous for me, and somehow it just doesn't feel welcoming. I feel like I'm walking through the pages of Glamour, Elle, Lucky, but with my rude aunt shadowing me to make sure I don't touch the leather or fondle the cashmere.

Madonna123. The BEST service in town. I would go back there in a heartbeat.
Service un-acceptable. I have sensative skin so I love going to NM for their great quality of products, but I do not like being treated like dirt just because I'm young and I don't dress like I'm Paris Hilton. I'm in a band, and I have a full time job I expect to be treated at least like a customer. I do have to say that I have a certain saleswoman that I try to go see every time, she is wonderful to me because she knows me, but every other "lady" I am confronted by is not so nice.
Snobbish. I have been to Neiman Marcus several times during 2002 and today 1/2003 and the sales associates in the make-up departments have attitudes, almost to the point of being rude. One counter, specifically, Trish McEvoy counter.
The Top in Texas. I have shopped at NM for years. Love their merchandise and knowledgeable sales associates. Some of their sales associates (especially at the Galleria location) have been there for years, so shopping is like seeing a friendly face. Best store in Houston for a "shopping fix"!
Aloof. Over the last few years, the selection has become more faddish and they carry things that you can find at Dillards and the sales personnel have become more aloof.
