“old decides he does not like korean because he wanted McDonalds, the waitress brought him out some ice cream so that he would allow us to enjoy our food.”
“The dumplings and the zuchinni pancake are heavenly.”
“Make sure to get the kalbi or bulgogi (Korean barbecue) - it's delicious and comes with a variety of side dishes (like kimchee).”
“It's a good place to take a group but not a good idea if you're going for a date or plan to go anywhere after the meal.”
“The waitress was not friendly when you ask for anything.”
“would never recommend the food for the price and never for the rude service!”
“The side dishes are awesome and you don't have to wait long to get those to munch on while you're waiting for the ribs.”
Solid Korean Food, but not spectacular. Seoul Garden is supposed to have some of the best Kalbi and Bulgogi in town. So it was with high expectations that a group of us met here for a private birthday. We were given a private room, enough for the 14 or so people in our group. We ordered liberally from the menu: Kalbi (short ribs), bulgogi (beef), seafood pancakes, jap-jae (noodles), kimchi tofu soup, and bibimbap. Compared with other Korean restaurants on Bellaire, the Kalbi compared favorably, but everything else on par was about the same as what you could get on Bellaire. I actually thought that the side dishes weren’t as good as the restaurants I favor on Bellaire, so the trek to Longpoint was not quite justified for me. While service was decent, it took forever to get the bill settled, and they only accepted cash. As far as ambience, there is a small little bridge when you enter the restaurant, reminiscent of one you would find in an outdoor Japanese garden overlooking a koi pond, but the décor pretty much ended there. Overall, Seoul Garden offers above average Korean food and is a good bet if you live in the area. If you live on the Southwest side of town, like I do, skip it and go to Arirang or Seoul House on Bellaire instead.
Yummy in Houston!.
I've had better in California but this is the place I go for Korean bbq in Houston. So essentially it's my second favorite place to get Korean bbq. The side dishes are awesome and you don't have to wait long to get those to munch on while you're waiting for the ribs...which is what you should be ordering. There are multiple rib bbq dishes, but just order more than 1 because they are all great!
The service is a little different. If you aren't Korean they won't like you as much, but hey, that's reality. You're there for the bbq anyways...they'll still feed you. It's like any other asian place...if you can speak the language they like you more. either way, you can just tip them less if it bothers you after your fed and satisfied.
Decor: cleaner than other asian restaurants. Never been crowded when I've gone. Nice and quiet.
Good and fun. This place if fun, especially if you like to cook your own food. I found that the marinated beef and the short ribs are the best. The chicken and pork are a little fatty, in my opinion. The side dishes are really tasty and they refill them for you. The servers don't really come around to ask if you need anything; you have to wave them down if you want more food or drink.
Best Korean Cuisine. Unlike the other reviews, I believe Seoul Garden is absolutely delicious. The BBQ is prepared very well. The waiters may not come to check on you, but Seoul Garden often serves large groups and because of that and all the appetizers before the BBQ starts, they end up bringing about thirty dishes to one table. As for the rice review, it should make sense to charge for another bowl; mainly because the bowl is overflowing with rice. And as for dishes being salty, it's Korean food..many of the appetizers are pickled and are supposed to be salty. I would expect that a Korean restaurant run by native Koreans, would be legit. I guess it's all up to taste, but in my opinion none of the terrible reviews were legitimate and Seoul Garden is a hidden treasure!!
The food is terrible. The food was too salty. The waitress was not friendly when you ask for anything. The side dishes was too old. I will never come back!
excellent!! best in houston without a doubt.. one of the best korean foods i've ever had. bbq and sushi is excellent. no other place in houston comes close...believe me, i've tried the others and they're just 'ok' and some were terrible. i've had plenty of korean food all over the country and even in korea and seoul garden is top notch all around.
GREAT FOOD, I LOVE IT!. I come to this restaurant on a weekly basis because I just love the food here. I go there so often that I don't even get a menu anymore and I don't even have to place my order...it just comes out 5-10 minutes later. The waitresses are so nice and they are very accomodating. This is a really genuine Korean restaurant - please go try it!
terrible service. The food is good like all other restaurants, but the service is horrible. i was rushed in ordering, and when my boyfriend asked for another bowl of rice, she said there was a $1 charge and insisted we order more food!! When we refused, she refused to give us more side dishes. There is no customer satisfaction here.
Korean cuisine is hard to find!. Korean cuisine seems to be lost among the sea of Chinese and Japanese restaurants in Houston. Though it's only one of two I'm aware of, this restaurant won't disappoint. Make sure to get the kalbi or bulgogi (Korean barbecue) - it's delicious and comes with a variety of side dishes (like kimchee). Plenty of seating for large or small groups.
