But I don't like taking it for service. I guess all of the Houston dealers are mobbed up under Gulf States so that might explain how my dash got carved up when I left it at Mike Calvert for a "second opinion" after a bad experience at another Toyota dealership.
I brought my vehicle back to address a tire indicator light problem. It turned out to be a bad sensor. ~$235 fixed the sensor and balanced the tire after a few hours. I had a good view of my vehicle from the waiting area and I watched one guy goofing around, shaking and hanging off of the rail of my roof rack several times, and another guy enjoying a cigarette while sitting in my front seat while he was performing some test. I got my smoke-filled vehicle back and drove home.
When I had to drive it on the freeway again, I noticed the violent shaking in the steering. Checked the tire pressure and found that the tire serviced was grossly over inflated to over 50 psi. The rear tire on the same side was also over inflated to 48 psi. So after deflating the two tires and still experiencing the vibration, I returned my vehicle to the dealership for service.
As it turns out, my tire was not balanced during all of that hijinx of smoking in my vehicle and hanging off my roof rack and over inflating the tires on one side. There was no charge for correcting the problem, but my irritated service advisor explained the issue, gave me my keys and just pointed to my vehicle which was parked outside the service garage. I got the hint. They don't want my business. I guess I have been banished to a local mechanic. I can't imagine that this treatment is common there, but it is possible since it happened to me.
Great car buying experience. After visiting several other dealerships, we called Mike Calvert and we were directed to Greg Hoogerwerf. Greg was by far the most educated on the product and gave us the most thorough test drive we have ever had. He was patient and very understanding to our needs and did an overall amazing job. My husband and I ask a lot of questions and Greg did a great job in making us feel comforted and educated. We love our new car, but we could have gotten that anywhere, the experience we had with Greg and Mike Calvert Toyota is what was important to us.
