We went yesterday and we did not enjoy the place. First at all like all Houston club's we were expecting that nobody smokes... "wrong... the place stings at cigarette"
We order some drinks, when i got my Whiskey and coke it was 85% coke and 15% whiskey so i thought maybe the bartender make a mistake so i gave him a second chance, when i ordered the 2 drink i asked the waitress if i can get a lil bit more of Whiskey on it, but as soon as she brings the drinks it was pretty much the same thing. The surprise was when i asked for the check... THEY CHARGE ME $16.00dls for each drink, I do not mind to pay it if this were a real wiskey but to me it was the most expensive coke in my life.
Music was ok... too much 70's and 80's music but overall ok. We will never come back to this place.
New Owners! New ambiance! Great crowd! Awesome music! New smoke ventilation! Lots of fun! I read the review from September...if you can't afford to spend $150.00 to take your significant other out on a Friday or Saturday night for a good time, then they must not be worth taking out! I have never spent that much at Wish's. Have you been to any of the bars on Washington or Midtown? Talk about expensive! I would definitely recommend this place whether or not you are in the "life style". It is a fun place to meet new people, have some good laughs and dance the night away!
I dont think the last reviewer knows what this club is all about. If they been there a couple times then they should know. As with all clubs they have their good nights and bad nights.
They have new owners and they are very nice and trying to improve the club. Give them time there are trying to change things. This club's cover charge for the type of club is very reasonable. There is only a drink min. on Sat nites still a little bit of a bummer but hell if you are having fun that night you will drink more than the min. Drink prices are not that bad for the type of club it is.
We go once a month and have a good time sometimes more than others. Depends on the wife a lot. The hotter the better. We love their LAtin nights once a month on Fridays.
For all the bad reviews on here it is not warranted. The club is a little out dated but many clubs are. If you are into the lifestyle scene and dont want an on premise club this is a great place.
The assigning seats is way for peaple to interact. Like I said the other couple must not have understood this. If there are tables available they will try to accomadate you.
Give the New Owners a chance they are changing things. And no I do not work for them just a fan of the club. Have an open mind and I am sure you will enjoy your self.
We have been a couple time. We were told it's under new management, we were hoping for it to be better this time. I didn't think it couldn't get worse, but it was. Outrageous drink prices with a cover charge and a drink minimum. A total rip off! They are still telling you where to sit and who to sit with. It's all old and outdated. $150.00 later your smelling like smoke and shaking your head on how you just got taken... No way will we ever go back or recommend it.
Been there a few times... it only gets worse.... – Pros:
It's close to home.
Very nice wait staff.
They tell you who to sit with.
Expensive drinks. (a glass of tap water is $6)
The place looks like my grandmother decorated it.
Crowd is really old and cliquish.
Bernard and Rosie are like 100 and need to let someone younger update and take over the place, it's a good location but it's outlived some of it's patrons.
Dead with a capital D – There is a reason Steak and Ale and Beniganns are no longer in Houston. The same should be said for Wish's. Wow talk about an outdated place. The crowd is 50 and up when and if there is a crowd. I don't care what any of the other reviews say this place is done. GO SEE FOR YOURSELF if you don't believe me. I am still in shock from my last visit. Could not get out of there fast enough.
Not worth visiting – We heard this club was a great LS club (maybe in 1978 it was). It is out dated, the owner is like 90 and assigns you seats, with other people we didn't fit with...the group is older (50's +). The drinks are crazy priced and music was lame. This was the most boring,/expensive club we've been to. Usually you get what you pay for, in the case of Wishes, it shoud have been free. Sorry to be negative, but save yourself te trip to this club.
Fun place to meet new people – This was our first visit to Wishs and we were not disappointed. We sat with a great couple and enjoyed the music and conversation. NO it was not RAP music all night. I think there may have been 5 songs in 5 hours. They not only have music but the videos playing as well with most songs. The drinks were reasonable at around $8 each and were strong--they didnt skimp with the alcohol. Recommend to friends?? YES Its a great place for the 30 and over crowd music not too loud and Bernard and Rosie were very nice. This is probably the cleanest club I have ever been in and the attention to patrons and their club will certainly keep people coming back for more. O Yeah great job Autumn
Swinging 70's with Rap – A LOT of these reviews are old. Ok- so, here is what I got out of the night at Wish's. If you like rap - UR IN LUCK. Personally, I didn't so.....The crowd was mid 30's and (way) up!!! The club was very kitsche!! I thought that I had been transported back to the 70"s. I actually liked it. Very small and intimate. Lots of interesting characters throughout the night. Saturday's is couple's night, so maybe it is better on a different night. I saw a grand total of 3 good looking girls in my 1.5 hours at Wish's, although the waitstaff was a pretty cute lot.
Great place, and not just for swingers – My wife and I stumbled upon Wish's not knowing what a "couples club" really was. We were just looking for a place for a date night of dancing free of single, college-age kids looking to get drunk and rowdy. It was truly enjoyable - nice, clean, classy club full of mature, interesting, friendly people. Although we weren't there to participate in the "lifestyle," people were still very friendly. The owners are nice folks. There was nothing weird or creepy about it, and absolutely no pressure to do anything we didn't want to do. It's a place where couples can focus on each other if they want to, and women can dress provocatively for their husbands in a um - stimulating - environment. The cover and drink minimum are high, but it keeps out the riff-raff, so we didn't mind. I suspect many of the people there participate in the lifestyle but that a sizeable minority do not. We go once or twice a year when we need a special, exciting date night.
