“Poor service, cold food.”
“Poor service, cold food.”
Breakfast served all day and pancakes served a variety of ways are the hallmarks of this diner-style restaurant..
In Short
The first International House of Pancakes opened in a suburb of Los Angeles in 1958 serving a menu of hearty breakfast favorites. Today the restaurant still serves its signature dishes like the original buttermilk pancakes and pigs in blankets: sausage links wrapped in hotcakes. Other breakfast items include waffles, omelets, French toast and crepes. Non-breakfast offerings include sandwiches, burgers, entree-sized salads, and dinners like T-bone steak, pot roast and herb-roasted chicken.
Poor service, cold food.. Short and simple: The service was terrible, save for one lady who was covering all the other wait staff's butts. The food was served room temperature, at best. While we were there, we saw 4 other tables have food sent back because it was either undercooked or cold. When we arrived, the waiter asked us if we'd like an appetiizer, as it'd be served in under 5 minutes. I don't know HOW they'd have pulled that one off, unless it was just sitting back there, in a microwave or something. A chicken sandwich, and an eggs and crepe combo took over 25 minutes to be delivered. I don't see us returning any time soon.
Glass was in my food...need I say more?. I was at this particular IHOP off 290 one Wednesday NIght and ordered the Big Steak Omlette. I'm chewing and all I hear is this really loud crunching sound. As I continue to chew, something's not feeling right so I spew out the food and there, in my hand, was a piece of a porcelain plate (not mine) about 2 centimeters in size! Of course I complained and informed them that I would not be paying for my meal...which is the least I was concerned about. The waitress took my contact information and said I would be getting a call from their General Manager the next day. Have I gotten a call? So finally I call them, and ask for the manager. I hear the waitress, or whoever answered, say "Here, they asked for the manager" then nothing. So I'm guessing I'm on hold and I wait on the phone for TEN MINUTES and 14 seconds!!! I try calling back twice and I gess they have caller ID because I get no answer. DO NOT patronize this place. They obviously do not care about the well being of the people that help them stay open.
