“As a professed pizza connoiseur, I have scoured Houston looking for the best pie in town.”

“Example: great place for good bread”
“Worst Pizza and horrible service.”
“My friend introduced me to it by bringing a slice over for movie night, I couldnt focus on anything but this huge amazing slice of goodness.”
“The slice of pizza I had was too sweet and over cooked, The meatball sub tasted fishy , and the cold cut was more like a neglected Muffalta, all this for $30 and slow, poor service.”
They make great pizza. Did you know there is a mathematical equation for how good a pizza restaurant is? Well it's Proximity to home X Taste. Think about it. No one wants to drive half-way across town for a slice or even have a pizza pie delivered from across town, but if something is conveniently located you can put up with something less than spectacular. Russo's though is 1 block from where I live and they make great pizza. I have had lunch and dinner here multiple times. For lunch they offer a soup and slice special which may be one of the most filling lunch specials I have ever had. This could only be second to a buffet. Their creamy Tomato soup reminded me of a cold winter day while their huge slices made me think of a great New York pizza joint. For dinner, I have ordered nearly everything on the menu. There pizza and pasta taste great, but I like to think that their hidden gem is their artichoke dip. I feel most restaurants go to Walk-mart, buy some frozen dip and then zap it in the microwave before serving. Judging by how delicious their dip is, there is no way Russo's does this. Their dip is creamy artichoke heaven. It is so thick you could spackle your walls with it and eat it later.
Largest pizza. You gotta see it to believe it! The largest pizza in Houston comes from the New York Pizzeria, and like its name, this is a real New York pizza. I took home a 28 inch pizza and had to have my wife open the back door as far as it would go and then still had to tilt the pizza to get it into the house. I had to tilt it again by the entrance to the kitchen. I knew my doors were wide enough for the pizza; I just didn't figure on the even larger box that holds the pizza.
Best I've ever had. My name is Shay Hoffman, and I live in Austin, Texas. I'm from McAllen, and have sampled your product many, many times before. Having tasted at least twenty different local and chain's products in Austin, Russo's is still the best I've ever had. I know that I, personally would drive to any part of this city to have a slice of your giant pizza, and think y'all could do very well here. I am fervently hoping a franchise eventually opens here. I really hope you will keep it in mind.
Thank you. I just wanted to thank you for the fabulous food, delivery, and set up on Sunday, June 7 to First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Everything was perfect!
This was a first. I cancelled a delivery order because it took (way) too long and demanded a refund. I got the refund and figured it was time to warm up the leftovers in the fridge. Minutes later the manager Alex showed up at my front door with my order. I have had food delivered to me in this city for a long time, at many different places, and I thought I had seen it all. This was a first. Thank you Alex!
used to be fantasic.
What has happened to this once great pizza place?
The last time I called in an order, they told me 11/2 hrs to deliver, unacceptable
The time before that, 1 hr to deliver the wrong pizza, then a further 30 minutes to deliver the correct order.
Tonight 1:15mins to deliver , to say the crust was soggy is an under estimation it was soaking wet. I am not sure how long it was from being made to delivery but the cheese was hard and it was barely warm.
The delivary guys are great, however ,they need to wake up, i am not sur what the problem is, but there is a major problem going on
credit card fraud. i will never order from this place again. they messed up my order for the last time. i am working with my credit card to get my funds back. do yourself a favor and call pinks, luigis or hell even pizza hut instead!!!!
good pizza but inconsistent quality.
I got the Giant Slice to go from this place twice. The first time around it was great! 5 stars, easily. The second time - this week, actually - the dough was still half-raw closer to the crust, so threw half of the piece out... (would've thrown the whole thing but I was HUNGRY). Thus the rating in the middle.
I'd recommend checking that the pizza is hot and toasted through before you take it home/pay for the delivery.
Example: great place for good bread.
Easily my favorite pizza in houston.
To the "horrific" experience reviews, I don't doubt it, the place is pretty casually run, and I'm sure they screw up. Still, it is clean, friendly, and 95% of the time, they really get it right.
To all the other negative reviews: learn what NY style pizza means, and if it does not suit your preferences, eat elsewhere.
On the other hand, if you love NY style pizza like I do, know that NY pizzeria is a real treasure. Like so many great houston restaurants, its a regional transplant every bit as good as the inspiration.
WORST PIZZA PLACE EVER!! THIS LOCATION!. WORST PIZZA PLACE EVER!! I got aweful pizza and customer service 3 times by this place. And I have only ordered from there 3 times! First time, I ordered a 2 topping pizza, and it gets delivered to my house and it was plain cheese - NO TOPPINGS. I call back and all the will gIve me is a slight discount on my next order. Second time, I was ordering for delivery at work downtown Houston.(and I never got the discount they promised) I order a deep dish pizza and they bring it to me completely burnt BLACK! I call and am upset, and I ask to have another pizza delivered bc that one I got was not even edible. 2 hours later and still no pizza, I call, get put on hold for over 10 minutes, have to hang up and call back. Finally I talk to the manager and he completely brushes me off and says what do you want me to do about it. I went off. Third time, ordered at work again (at the request of my co-workers...not my choice) and my pizza is delivered (after 1.5 hours) but was obviously carried on its side and all the toppings - cheese - everything- had slid over and left me with a big slimy circle of bread. The delivery guy didn't care about it either and just took off. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM NY PIZZERIA IN MIDTOWN! THE MANAGEMENT MUST CONSIST OF NOTHING BUT MORONS! THEY DONT CARE AND GIVE YOU THE WORST PIZZA OF YOUR LIFE!
