Editorial Review for 100% Taquito – by Robin Barr Sussman

The Scene
This sure-fire taqueria brings the outdoors in with its whimsical faux concession stand, murals of Mexico City, concrete floors and flowery window boxes. You may spot a Texas-type celebrity (or at least Ricky Martin shaking his stuff on video television) along with families and foodies applauding this recent gustatory discovery.

The Food
Taquitos--small meat-filled tacos often confused with flautas--are the draw here, served simply with a scattering of pungent white onion and fresh cilantro on soft flour or corn tortillas. The hot Mexican tortas, or sandwiches, are very good. Equally satisfying are the distinctive sopes: tiny rounds of thick, dewy corn tortilla cakes with crimped edges that hold a bed of roughly mashed, deep-flavored black beans. You want the whole enchilada? Seek Tex-Mex. Want the total taquito? You know where to go.

I have been coming to 100% Taquito since it first opened at this location. It's my favorite restaurant. Try the Tinga Taco, named 2nd best taco in the state in Texas Monthly Magazine. Also, the Tres Leches is fantastic. If you're in a hurry, it's a good place for pick-up orders.

Pros: Food, Service, Price, Atmosphere

Cons: I wish the Tres Leches was cheaper

This place is freaking cool. Great food at a ridiculous cheap price with great Aguas Fresca Limonada!!!! I found my quick cheap eats hangout!!!!

Pros: The Menu

Cons: Quesadillas could have been bigger!
