What Our Expert Scouts Say

100 Percent Taquito

Great place for cheap and tasty Mexican street food- tacos, quesadillas, and more. The tingas are spicy and best when ordered the simple way, with cilantro and onions on corn tortillas.

Feels like you're on a street in Mexico. On the recommendation of a bona fide Mexican national, we tried this cute taco joint off of 59 near buffalo speedway.

Immediately upon entering, you feel like you're walking onto a movie set somewhere in Mexico city. A green bug with mannequins inside, brightly colored faux kiosks where you order and pick up food, flat screen tv's with music videos playing, and christmas lights zig-zagging across the wide black ceiling make you feel like you're dining alfresco at night somewhere. And that's exactly what they are trying to achieve, a Mexico city alley feel. They do it well.

Without even trying the food, I really liked this place but I think my expectations were too high. The actual food we had (we ordered two taco plates, the mixto and the pastor, bargains at under $4 for 3 4 inch tacos) was bland and a little bit rubbery. The chicken mole was all right and my husband said the Tinga taco was good, but the pastor was dry and tasteless and the fajita meat not much better. The tortilla soup with fresh avocado, likewise, was pretty tasteless and cafeteria-like in quality. The highlights were the agua fresca for $1.99 in melon flavor (tastes just like fresh cantaloupe!) and the unbelievably large and decadent tres leches $3.99, total overkill topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce - but moist and satisfactorily yummy for my tummy.

If I didn't have my own favorite taco stand to compare it with (Tacos Mayra on Beechnut), I would probably like this place more. As it is, 100% Taquito has a great feel ambience-wise, is really cheap and worth the drop-by if you're in the neighborhood looking for cheap eats. But if they want me to come by more often, they need to improve on the tastiness of their food.

Great Mexican street style food. I had never been to this place given its name. I was brought up to believe that a taquito is the proper name for a breakfast taco. So I thought this was going to be a generic taquito place; however, this place is great. It serves authentic Mexican street food, ie tortas and pork tacos. Great value, recommended.

I like it:). Very nice, casual place to eat quickly some really tasty food.

I like the location, I like the interior of the place and I like the staff which is quick and efficient.

It's also very entertaining to watch people watching football.

Best Value In Town. I have been coming to 100% Taquito since it first opened at this location. It's my favorite restaurant. Try the Tinga Taco, named 2nd best taco in the state in Texas Monthly Magazine. Also, the Tres Leches is fantastic.

If you're in a hurry, it's a good place for pick-up orders.

Very dissapointed!!!, chicken breast old and re-heated many times!!!. My husband and I went with some friends to 100% Taquito Saturday night after we had not been there years ago!, only to find out that the food has decreased in quality by 100%!!!

We ordered beef fajitas and chicken breast tacos, the portions were very small! (you get 3 miniature tacos for about $4.50 which they come out to be about the size of one regular taco!!!), I would not have mind paying that much if at least they were have been good like I remembered they were years ago, but the chicken breast was extremely old and dried, you could see and taste that it had been re heated several times thru out the day!, it was definitely not fresh at all!!!!!

All of us, (6 of us) agreed on the same thing! We tried leaving a comment in the comment box but they were not any to fill!!! The place is cute decorated but the food is not worth it at all!!! I would had enjoyed much better a burger from McDonalds!!! Don't go!, you will be dissapointed! I can promise!

100% Goodness. I first ate at 100% Taquito back in 2001 (before they expanded it in 2003) and fell in love immediately. It has been in my eating rotation every since, where I eat there at least once a month or so. Great food and it ?hits the spot? every time!

I usually have to get the Banderillas (#85!) when go. They are so tasty!!! And if you are into sweets, the Tres Leches is absolutely amazing!!!

The first time I ever had a Michelada was here. Although a little odd at first, I now really enjoy drinking these concoctions. Thanks 100% Taquito for introducing me!

If you haven?t checked this place out, do it. But don?t expect ?Tex-Mex? food, since that?s not what this place is all about. You can, however, expect some delicious grub.

Fantastic Tortilla Soup. I am, sadly, here several times a week. It's kind of embarassing. I'm OBSESSED with their tortilla soup, and have tried to recreate it at home with no luck.... so I keep coming back. I always get several soups and have a soup "day", and cheese and cilantro quesadillas....which are so, so, so good.

Everything I have tried here is excellent. The service is quick and the employees are very nice. I came here for the first time years ago when they first opened, and then moved out of Houston, and came back- and boy am I glad! For CHEAP but high QUALITY authentic mexican food- this is the place.

Some people complain that there is no queso- but folks, queso is tex-mex. It's not really good for us, anyways. It's set up like a mexican street corner food vendor, but it's CLEAN. It's also fun to watch children play and get excited about the Mexican Taxi parked in the middle. Great place!

The search is over. I've been looking around Houston for decent tacos al pastor, like the kind I used to get at my favorite taqueria in Mexico City when I spent a summer there. Like I had at an outdoor market in Merida. Like I had in Puerto Vallarta. My search ended at 100% Taquito. No greasy, shredded and stewed pork here. Just tasty, marinated bits of (grilled? rotisseried?) pork, with pineapple or without, dressed with cilantro and onions in a corn (gotta be CORN) tortilla. So simple, so tasty, and so cheap! Can't beat it.

Great for vegetarians!. Excellent, fresh vegetarian Mexican available. Try the bean sopes--add the free pico de gallo and salsas and what a delicious meal for 3 bucks. I go there all the time. The corn with cheese and lime is wonderful too.
