Bikesport - Great first time buyer experience

While preparing to participate in my first MS150 in 2009 I spent considerable time and effort looking for the best road bike with value in mind. I shopped at several bike shops in the Houston and Katy area and was not satisfied with the limited sales support, that is a sales person wanting to fit me with the best bike to fit my future use...that was until I was referred to see Mickey at Bikesport. I purchased my Canondale in December and since then have leveraged Mickey's experience as I purchased the sundry of equipment and apparel I would need to properly train and complete the MS150. Mickey is not your usual high pressure sales person always wanting to up-sell you to something you cannot use or find value...rather, he simply asks several questions to get an idea about your future needs and then presents several options to you.
Since my initial purchase I've recommended Bikesport and Mickey to many co-workers and friends. I'd recommend them to you as well.

I've been going to Bikesport for many years and have always found them to be the best REAL bicycle store in Houston. There have been a few changes in staff, but the service department is great and knowledgable and can keep to my budget. The owner is a funny guy who can be cranky, but is generally very fair in this day of internet sales and discounters. Bikesport is easy to find and is usually open late enough so I can get by during the week if needed, so I can do my riding on weekends. You really can't ask much more from a business. Now, if my car dealer was this good....
Point-Counterpoint

I just stumbled across this review and feel that some counterpoint is needed. Bikesport has been around for 30 years and has lots of satisfied customers. The other reviewer here had a bad experience because they created their own experience. Starting off by being abusive to store staff and thinking it was our fault that their mail order bike was defective. This was a customer that we bent over backwards to help but who turned out to be unhelpable. Since they have moved on, I think life is better for all of us, customer included.
