Editorial Review for Crapitto's Cucina Italiana – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Tastefully decorated without being overwrought, this remodeled 75-year-old farmhouse is elegant and accommodating. Few establishments can rival this family-run eatery as an overall dining experience. Service is casual but crisp, the relatively economical menu concise and the furnishings as well turned out as anything you'll find in the toniest of places. Given its location in the shadow of the ostentatious Galleria, Crapitto's unassuming grace is refreshing and remarkable.
The Food
How can you not order something called Grandma's Lasagna? Turns out, the old gal had a pretty good recipe (and at less than $10, it's a bargain). Carnivores will be happy with a hefty veal chop slathered in Rocquefort. Eggplant enthusiasts must try the Julio appetizer, with delicate slices fried golden without the usual sogginess. Past that, the offerings are perfectly adequate. There's also an appealing by-the-glass wine assortment.

My first visit to Crapitto's will likely be my last. The food was not bad, but also not good...extremely average. We ordered crab cakes for starters, and they had a strange taste to them. The entree was nothing special either. Nonetheless, we decided there's just not too many ways to mess with dessert, we ordered the tres leches and a cheesecake of some sort. The tres leches was horrible, but the cheesecake was YUMMY! The service was nice, as well as the ambiance.
Pros: Service and Ambiance
Cons: Food Quality

This is a fantastic Italian restaurant. The best in Houston. The location is great located inside the loop off of Westheimer. Old style building which gives you that old Italy feeling. Service is spectacular ever visit and they have a great little bar in the front. Very nice wine list and you have to taste the food to really appreciate it. Lasagna is my favorite!
Pros: Food, Service and Location
Cons: Better for smaller groups
