Do not order from this restaurant. We ordered online for delivery. The delivery was 40 minutes late. We did not receive all of the items we ordered and paid for. We ordered 1 order of fried rice and one order of brown rice. We received one order of white rice instead. We also did not receive the order of egg rolls that we ordered and paid for. When we called the restaurant to ask that they bring our correct order they said that they could not see our order because we ordered online (so how did we get our order in the first place?). They also said that we lived too far away to bring us our correct order. Do not order from this restaurant.

The Best!. We all recently visited Ambassador after I passed it many times. The decor is very pretty and the restaurant is quiet and relaxing. The prices are just right and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The fried rice, sesame chicken, and chicken lo mein are the best ever. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone. This has to be the best Chinese restaurant in town. Its even better than some of the more well-known places.

Chicken Chow Mein, just like the old days!. If you are looking for a great dish of chicken chow mein, made the way you remember it from the old days, this is the place to go! We looked high and low for a good plate of this dish and were disappointed every time until we discovered this restaurant.

The staff is phenomenal. Just the nicest, most helpful people you're likely to come across. I think it's because they love what they're doing--it's not just a job to them, it's an art that they are excited to share.

They make this one dish for us--I can't say if it's on the menu, or if it's maybe a variation of something on the menu, but it's sauteed chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, snow peas and sometimes other chinese vegetables--I get the impression, it's whatever the chef has at hand that day--along with those dried red peppers. OMG!! It is SOOOOO delicious! The first time we tried this restaurant we explained to the owner that we had been looking for a Chinese restaurant that still served dishes with traditional Chinese vegetables, not just carrots, green beans and broccoli. She had her husband make us this, and it is insanely good.

The Chicken Ku and the Princess Prawns (the spicy version--although the other's good, too, we just like spicy food!) are two more of our favorites.

The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, good for a date or meeting a group.

Houston's best Chinese restaurant. Wendy and Henry, the owners, are superb as hostess and chef. Sally, Henry's sister, is a dear friend, too, and either she or wonderful Lena will likely take care of your table. I've been eating here since 1985 and the only place I feel more at home is home.

My firm conclusion - - after deliberate comparisons with other Chinese restaurants in Houston as well as Vienna, Paris, London, San Francisco, Sydney and Hong Kong - - is that Henry's hot-and-sour soup is simply the best there is. Period.

The Ambassador is also a terrific place to celebrate birthdays. and, with notice, Wendy will even go to the trouble of ordering (and picking up) a bake-shop birthday cake for the party. And did I mention the spicey eggplant and the special salad and the moo goo gai pan with bell pepper and freshly shredded ginger with chili and dumpling sauce - - and not once being over-charged a cent in literally hundreds of visits in the last 25 years? And the spicey green beans and the Hunan chicken and the orange beef?

See Below. Food very good, however tried to pad the bill by saying gave us wrong menu but all menus seemed to be the same. Reduced bill by $2.00 when should have been over $7.00

Editorial Review. Houston's long-standing, cozy Chinese restaurant hideaway continues to please diners with traditional and generously sized Asian meals.

Classic Chinese Food. Ambassador has been around forever, and their time tested food shows it!

The BIG shrimp eggrolls are the only way to start off, maybe with the Ambassador Beef to follow!

The feel of a mom & pop restaurant is obvious and makes for a relaxed evening out.

User review by aloahboy713. I have been dining here for the past 20 years and it is alwasy the best in town. Friendly service and great food. The owner Wendy is delightful and her husband is the best cook in town. Her staff is friendly (especially Sally) and has been with her for as long as I have been eating there. If you have not been here yet, what are you waiting for? Stop by tonight!!!!

Awesome. Two years ago when I first walked in, I felt like I went back in time to how restaurants used to be.(not run by corporate giants and commercialized)I was greeted with smiling faces and enjoyed the best Chinese food in town while listening to Frank Sinatra on their stereo. Since then, I have become a regular and have brought countless friends over to experience the great food and atmosphere. You've got to try the Hot Braised Prawns and the Chinese Salad.
