Great entertainment for the average or new bowler. I am a league bowler and go to Palace 3 or 4 times a week and I love the place. The air conditioner is amazing, even this summer when it was 100 degrees outside every day, inside Palace was cold!

During the daytime, Palace is a great place to come entertain the kids or practice your skill, if you are a serious bowler. There are leagues available every night of the week, so if you like to bowl leagues, this is the place for you.

The snack bar is top notch and has was awards for the awesome cheeseburgers. And the cocktail lounge carries a full line of beer, wine and mixed drinks. They also have big screen tvs for sports viewing, inside the bar and on the lanes.

This place delivers an all around great experience anytime you are looking to get your bowl on!

nice place, no smoking ban violation. Went here for the first time a few months ago...nice facilities, bar area, spotless bathrooms. I too thought they violated the City of Houston smoking ban...but they are in fact in a small municipality called "Southside Place".

However, if you are anywhere that acutally is in the City of Houston, and that establishment violates the smoking ban...you can report any infractions you witness to the Smoking Ordinance Enforcement Program.

A place for adults. Best for casual nigh of beer and bowling with adult friends. If you bring the kids, do so early, and you won't need to be concerned about what the adults are doing (smoking).

Lanes are perfect, but the prices fair, and the service acceptable.

Smoking right next to kids. How sad.. I had the misfortune of going to this place because of a birthday and could not believe my eyes. They allow smoking not just in the bar area (which is banned in Houston anyway), but by the lanes! I saw this great mother smoking and blowing smoke in her kids' face too. Why is this even allowed? the Address clearly states that this is in Houston.

Horrible horrible place for bowling also. The machine kept jamming up, the shoes were old and stinky, and did I mention it's hard to bowl when you're coughing?

For league and late-night play, this popular Bellaire bowling alley is a Houston mainstay.. In Short
Palace Lanes has an ample 44-lane alley and fancy computer scoring (your scoring screen also shows you the best way to pick up a spare). There's league play every day, and from 6pm to 9pm on weekdays, leagues occupy every lane--casual bowlers need not show up during these times. But if absolutely necessary, the Palace's friendly cocktail lounge is good for getting one's game face on while waiting for the deafening tidal waves of league play to subside.

I wouldn't go back, even if they paid me. I've been bowling since I was about 12 and very few times can I remember not enjoying myself when checking out a new bowling alley. I read a review from someone else that mentioned the lane conditions were horrible, but I wanted to see for myself.

Well let me tell you that the only positive thing about bowling experience at Palace was the fact that I got to fellowship with my brother in Christ. If you are an intermediate bowler or higher I would not recommend this house. The lanes were absolutely deplorable. I am 6'0" 220 and fairly muscular and I left there feeling like i had a full fledge workout. I thought I was in the Sahara desert b/c those lanes were so dry.

They may dress the lanes up nice and pretty for their leagues but, if I can't enjoy myself during open bowling then, I'm not trying to gamble with joining a leagure here. The staff was nice and friendly, but from a bowler standpoint...I won't go back.

Mens State. I watched my husband bowl mens state there and boy were the lanes flying. I know they use the house shot for the tournament and if that is the regular house shot I would never bowl league there! I also ask for some special pricing for a company party and no deal there.

Eddieboy speaks his mind. What's the dealio with all these high marks for Palace Lanes?! Any half-decent bowler would know that these lanes are horrendous. It's the lanes I tell ya!! Yes, I'm the guy that gave Palace Lanes a 5 the first time around, but I thought I'd go back just to see if they had improved any, and they haven't! Absolutely no oil on the lanes and it was freezing in there! Only thing that made the experience enjoyable was hanging out with my bros. Heya Johnny boy! If you want to go to a good bowling alley in Houston, I suggest going to Alpha Lanes in Clear Lake. It's the only place in Houston that I've seen with decent lanes. Word to your motha.
