Less than Express, Not so Fresh. Café Express prides itself on the motto that they serve fresh, healthy food, fast. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the experience I recently had at the Town and Country location.

A friend and I stopped in for dinner and were rather disappointed. We ordered burgers and sweet potato fries and waited for what seemed to be an exceptionally long time for simple food in a not-so-busy environment. Although my turkey burger was flavored great, our sweet potato fries were cold by the time we received our order.

Something else that bothered me about this establishment was the fact that they served our beverages in Styrofoam cups. Being a bit of an environmental freak, it was disappointing to see a restaurant with sit down service and such notoriety in the Houston area being irresponsible not acting more environmentally conscious.

Could-Care-Less Express. On Sunday, 2/8/09, I had planned to take approximately 15 adults to Cafe Express for lunch. Our group consisted of adults that were serving as leaders in church confirmation class. I called at 11am to request tables to be placed together; I was told that this was not possible. One of our adults arrived ahead of the group and placed about 8 tables together. We arrived around 12:15pm. As we were ordering, I requested if the meals could be tax exempt, since this was a group from a church. I would provide a tax exempt form, which is necessary. I was told by the manager that it was not possible unless I had already cleared it with their corporate offices; I had not. We proceeded to order $113.38 worth of food. Our group had been there for approximately an hour or so, when the manager came to us. He requested that we give up some of our tables, since they did not have enough tables to accomodate their crowd. We left.

The food was okay - the service was not okay. I have frequented several area restaurants with church groups, and have usually been given adequate consideration and treatment. However, my experience at Town & Country Cafe Express left me with a bad taste. I have faith that there are Houston restaurants who would welcome our tax exempt business!

American classics and oversized servings make Cafe Express a prime pitstop for quick budget dining.. In Short
For colorful and generous salads, roasted chicken, or designer burgers in a flash, Cafe Express is all deserving. Pastas in oversized bowls such as cavatelli with broccoli, mushrooms, and goat cheese served with a house salad are well-rounded meals. The balanced Caesar with grilled chicken or the Express salad bowl trio with tuna Tuscany, chicken salad, and pasta pesto are freshly prepared standbys.

Good, fresh food. While I do enjoy the food at Cafe Express, some of the food is quite overpriced. The better deals are getting either the soup and salads or the sandwiches, but don't get the entrees. The entrees are very overpriced, and you get very little food with them for some reason. They never fill up my boyfriend; and I even agree that they are very small. So, just stick with the sandwiches; they are more filling and you get more food with them.
