This course was named one of the "Top 10 You Can Play" in 2000 by "Golf" magazine.. The Course If you're a little short on your short game, the best thing to do is bring extra golf balls, because the Houstonian has enough water hazards to make your wedges cry. Of particular note is the 16th green, set up on a sloped peninsula and the par-3 17th that forces you to thread a shot over water between large traps.
The Experience The Tif Eagle greens play fast, but you can probably get a read on some. Just when you think you're safely out of the water holes, the par-4 18th has you thinking the first-time (in Texas) designer, son of the late Robert Trent Jones, Sr. (builder/renovator of more than 500 courses), dressed this course to impress. A 140-yard-long trap along the right side begs for a slice.
