In Short – Located inside the Wortham Theater Center, the Houston Grand Opera remains at the forefront of Houston's fine arts scene with new works premiering each season, innovative technology and some of opera's brightest stars. Free performances at both Miller Outdoor Theatre and annual Plazacasts make opera accessible to all. The opera flourished under the direction of David Gockley from 1972 to 2005. Anthony Freud begins his tenure as HGO's third general director in early 2006.
