Dr Poage is extremely professional, accomodating and extremely sensitive to my issues. I had a severe depression coupled with panic attacks due to a horrible divorce...without her help & guidance I do not know what I would have done. She is also very reasonable with her fees, as most psychiatrists charge $300-500. Dr, Paskowitz is one shrink to avoid.
A Psychiatrist – My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Poage's for almost 9 years and I cannot sing this doctors praises loudly enough!
I can understand why some people think that she is just a "pill pusher". She is NOT a psychologist but a psychiatrist! She works in conjunction with your "counselor" but does not function as a counselor. It took our family a while to figure it all out but my daughter was recently diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder. After a myriad of doctors appointments I know how "at home" my daughter felt when she walked in to Dr. Poage's office. Dr. Poage is loving and caring and also "knows her stuff". Those are attributes that are hard to find in todays medical system.
Inconsiderate – My husband has been suffering from bipolar disorder, and this doctor rushed him through his visit, and then flat out refused to help him.
He took time off of work and he really needs help. He's suffering. But she did not care in the least.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. SHE'S A JOKE.
Good Information – After seeing many different people over the years as I've moved around the U.S., I can confidently say I like Dr. Poage. Since I'm a questioner (about everything, including psychoactive medication), I appreciate her ability to fully explain things. I always find her advice reasonable and down to earth. She keeps her appointments on time. One reviewer called her a pusher. Hmm. In this day of medicines that actually work, this might be said of most psychiatrists. However, Dr. Poage always insists on seeing me and speaking to me before renewing a prescription, and questions me in depth on how I'm feeling and reacting. I don't know any pushers, but I suspect them of less concerned behavior. Hmm.
Works for me! – Let me preface by saying that I've seen probably 5 or 6 psychiatrists in my lifetime. I've been seeing Jan for about 5 months now and I've had nothing but good experiences with her. Don't have much to say about her staff because they're usually gone. Jan's always been sympathetic and patient with me and after many tries by many docs, found something that worked well for me. Old school.
Wasted time and effort – I?ve seen a few psychiatrists and this particular doctor just seems to be a licensed dr*g dealer. I?ve been seeing her for about 2 months and I feel worse now then when I starting seeing her and when I approached her with it, her response was, ?deal with it.? I thought that?s what I was doing by seeing her.
I wouldn?t recommend her but maybe it was just a simple personality conflict between us.
