Truly like visiting someone's home

This place is very unassuming. Don't go expecting bright, shiny, or new. Don't go if you're in a hurry. Go if you have a lazy day or evening ahead of you and you want some rib-sticking Cuban food.

The mariquitas en mojo (banana chip with garlic sauce appetizer), black beans, shrimp creole, and bistec in cazuela sauce are all very good. Weekend brunch is also tempting... I had an egg dish, which was fine, but another diner ordered a breakfast steak and it smelled heavenly.

• Pros: Local, quiet, different, good value
• Cons: Not what many expect from a restaurant

Hidden treasure!

My boyfriend and I ate here just last night. It doesnt look like much from outside and the interior isn't fancy and it isn't on the main strip. But the service is very friendly and the food very good. It reminded me of being back in Miami and some of the places I used to eat there. The banana taco was yummy. I wish now that I had ordered my own instead of sharing! You don't want to pass up the mojitos either. Who needs all of the glam and glitz when you can get great service and a very good meal at very reasonable prices. We will definitely go again.

• Pros: Great service..great value...awesome mojitos
• Cons: not a lot of parking.. but it's like that most places in town
