Editorial Review. Located in Houston, Mi Sombrero is a great Mexican restaurant that specializes in traditional Tex-mex breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Great place for homecooked meal.
Very good place to eat homecooked Mexican food. This is a small mom and pop place located on the corner of 34th and Shepherd. It is very clean and the waitstaff is friendly (not fluent in english, but who cares, the food is great). I think their enchiladas are the best I've tasted. I also like the more traditional Mexican food, such as Carne Guisada, Carnitas Rancheras, Menudo, and Queso Flameado.
In the mornings I usually have the Huevos Rancheros or Chorizo con Huevo; both plates come with hand sliced potatoes (none of that frozen store bought stuff) and homemade refried beans. And if that weren't enough, they also make thier own flour and corn tortillas - you can't go wrong with that.
I have also fallen in love with the Tommy Tacos. I can't believe they are so simple and so good. Fajita with onions, jalapenos, and chile-con-queso on top. Then again, anything is good with queso on top.
I highly recommend this place.
An unknown jewel in Oak Forest. I remember eating in the early morning hours during high school before finals. It was within walking distance of my school. The tacos, tostadas, refried beans, and other foods are amazing. The place might come off as a "hole in the wall" establishment, but a quick taste of the food will soon take this thought out of your mind. The food is a bit on the authentic side, but it still has a touch of tex-mex to it. The prices are also VERY affordable. You can get a summer plate for $4.75, and a ladies special for $4.00. Mexican coke, Jarritos, and other drink favorites are also served. I urge you to check this place out, if you are on a tight budget and want some good Mexican food.
