Look. Despite the ridiculously perfect reviews. Most of the menu items are sub-par. Ive been going here for years, and I've found that it really all depends on what you order.

Hidden gem in the Oak Forest area!. I've grown up in the area but sadly had always just "passed by" Eastern. My Mom said she went years ago and couldn't remember the quality. One day we decided to try the food. The atmosphere is great. Its really small, but they have marble tables and very pretty braided-like upholstery on the booths (so they've obviously put money into updating the place). The service is good, not overtly friendly or in your face, which is good with us. The food is amazing, even the fried rice. Usually, Chinese restaurants don't make as good of fried rice as Japanese restaurants. Theirs is really fresh and good. The food is always top quality. I took my husband and in laws there one day and they also enjoyed it. The portions are generous and all of us were able to get just enough. We will be back many more times.

The best. The best food in Houston I ate there for years and then I moved close to Tomball but I will drive all the way there to get the Kung Pao Shrimp the sauce is the best . I think I know what I'm having for dinner now.

Great food!. The food is really good! I have liked everything that I've tried. We eat here usually once a week. Probably the only thing I dont like is how small the building is. At lunch, there is usually a line that almost goes out the door, but its worth it!

Great place to dine-good service-better food. Just had a great lunch off the lunch menu. I had brocalli chicken with soup and an egg roll. As usual the food is great. The service was speedy , I was seated the minute I walked in the door. The fod was there before I could put sugar in my tea.

While it is true that the soda is from a can this is not a place that serves burgers and most people drink tea ,coffee or water. So if a soda is that big a deal, you are at the wrong place looking for the wrong type of dining. And by "burger joint" I mean any type of restaurant, and which 4 star restraunt is judged by how they serve a soda?

The service was very friendly and was there when my glass needed a refill. I seem to find that you get the kind of service you wand if you are not rude and even then here you still get good service, they are extremely busy...so god food ,great price..seems like a no brainer to me!

Favorite neighborhood Chinese - Outstanding Food. Eastern does not look like much on the outside and is easy to pass up on 34th. However, the food is by far the tastiest Chinese in Houston. I agree with the last review, service is not super friendly but prompt. The soda's come in a can with a cup of ice but it's no big deal. The decor is very old school and dining room is super small. For dinner, arrive EARLY. I always order the kung pao shrimp and it is sooooo good and a large portion. My child loves the sweet and sour chicken but there's no dessert on the menu. This place is a must try if you love Chinese!

Great chinese food...poor service. This is a good place to EAT. The food is amazing. I don't think I've had one bad item on the menu. It is definetly the best chinese food in houston. It's a bit of a small facility with limited seating. The feel is very casual, a little old school. One thing I must admit I'm not crazy about is the fountain drinks. They're not really fountain drinks. It's more of a glass with ice and a soda can. And the people who run the place are a little on the rude side. Or rather pretending like you're not there... A bit of a dissapointment but the food is 0rgasm1c

Fantastic Chinese Restaurant. I have greatly greatly enjoyed this restaurant for the last 8 years and was shocked no one else had posted a review! So here goes... I love Chinese food, and have tried tons of places, but Eastern holds a special place in my heart. Everything is good, but all the Chef Specials are GREAT! I highly recommend the General Tso's chicken. It is the best in Houston. Also the Honey Chicken is fantastic. I've never seen it anywhere else. They have great fried rice and lo mein as well!
