Just a SHADOW of it's past glory. I've been going to Flying Saucer since 1975, and IT WAS the best place to get a pie...Pecan, Blackberry, Boston Cream, Banana Creme, Strawberry...but for the last 10 year, the pies you get there are SUBSTANDARD. Everyone who is hyping this place did not have a pie 11 years ago...then they were GREAT. As it is now, expect all berry pies to be MOSTLY flavored JELLY, the Banana and Coconut cream pies are more like pudding and the PECAN...their former flagship pie, is now a chincy SINGLE LAYER with most of the pie consisting of jelly.

I used to CROW about Flying Saucer, now I just shake my head at all the people who think they've found a treasure.

I've found a replacement for Flying Saucer, but not saying!

Sorry, but overrated.. I moved to Houston over a year ago, and live in Oak Forest. I had been hearing nothing but great things about FSPC, and I finally got to try them out last week (May 2008). I'm very keen on supporting local restaurants and bakeries, and again, FSPC is just a few min from my house. I wanted to like it. Heck, I wanted to LOVE it. But it's completely overrated.

We got chocolate and banana creme. Perhaps these were bad choices. But the fillings (which were your garden variety, OK filings, nothing spectacular) weren't really the problem. The crust wasn't good. In fact, I got some of that hard to describe, machine-made, old, bad-shortening taste from it, which is the kiss of death for all pies, great or small. If you don't like a filling, fine, you can change that, but if the crust is substandard, where can you go? Another pie company. EXTREMELY disappointed to have to pan this place. But be advised, waiting in a line in the middle of the 'hood that reaches outside in the rain, as I've seen people do during the holidays, is not time well spent.

Great Pies and worth the trip. I found this place about 15 years ago when I worked in the area and it turned me into a pie lover. The place is nothing to look at but the pies are really good. I frequently deliver them to clients because the presentation is kinda cool and they're big and always fresh and tasty. I love the strawberry pies the best.

Probably the BEST Pie in Town!. I have been coming since I was a little girl. I still love to come here for the strawberry cream pie which is like heaven in a pie pan. They also have good apple!

They are not the most glamourous staff but they do work in a hot bakery all day so cut them slack!

They produce some of the best pies in Houston. If you plan on ordering one for the holidays plan ahead they are easily over booked weeks prior. One pie can run you about 10 bucks.

GOOD PIES, BAD SERVICE!. GOOD PIES. MY FAVORITE IS THE STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE.

BUT IN REGARDS TO THEIR SERVICE....TERRIBLE! I NEVER SAW

SO MANY SOUR FACES IN ONCE PLACE. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD

APPRECIATE HAVING SO MANY LOYAL CUSTOMERS. BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM LIKE IT.

EVERYONE BEHIND THE COUNTER ACTS AS IF IT WILL HURT IF THEY SMILED.

IT IS THAT AWFUL. I THINK THE WORKERS NEED AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT REAL FAST!

User review by rosalea. The Pies are great. They have to be they've been lining up around the place since I was a little girl and I'm not a little girl any more. My family has always been particularly crazy about their strawberry pies. If you want one for Thanksgiving 2005 I think your out of luck but if you go early enough you might make Christmas. Don't forget no credit cards.

I Love This Place. Their pies are truely out of this world. I had one of their fresh peach cream pies the other day. I had to have a second piece because it was soooo good! The apple pie has always been one of my favorites, and their apple pie is just as good if not better than mom's. There is a line during the holidays, however my family thinks it is well worth the wait!

Service needs work. The pies here are OK. Some are better than others; but, I don't know if it's worth the wait because the service is not with a smile and everytime I've gone I've felt like I've bothered the employees when I ask a question.

Tradition or not...something needs to change.

Sinful yet down-to-earth desserts make for sweet business.. In Short
Family owned and operated since 1967, this place knows a thing or two about pie. Though their business has grown a bit over the years, their classic recipes haven't changed. From comfort food favorites like pumpkin and apple to seasonal favorites like peach cream and blackberry cream, Flying Saucer has something for every palate. Strawberry cream, their most popular pie, is available year round to remind you to always save room for dessert.
