No Headlines?. Why have there been no reviews of Massa's Seafood in the past two years? Is the restuarant no longer open? I loved this place when I worked Downtown. But now there seems to be no review activity at all. Any clues?

You won't believe what you're missing!. I just came home from eating at Massa's for the first time and I have so many compliments about this place that I can't even write them all down! First, the food was just perfect. Our table of four ordered the trout almondine, red snapper (the ENTIRE fish!), and the tuna steak all to share. Each dish was amazing, but I have to say that the trout was certianly my favorite. The house appetizer of crab cake, shrimp, etc. was also exceptional (according to my family...I have a gluten allergy, so everything fried is off limits to me). My fiance and I are looking to do our Rehearsal Dinner at Massa's and, after our experience tonight, there is no question that Massa's is the place! We had read great reviews about the restaurant, but I gotta tell you, it met and exceeded all of my expectations. Joe Massa could not have been a nicer, more sincere guy. He came to our table, spoke with us about our menu options for the party (I certainly didn't expect him to do this, which was very impressive), he even had the waitress bring us whichever deserts our hearts desired from the menu so we could try a number of dishes. We left with full stomachs, happy hearts, and would be back again next weekend in a heart beat. Right across from the Four Seasons with window views of Lamar St., our table by the window was private, yet right in the middle of the everything. Massa's nice sized banquet room is perfect for parties up to 75, and the group of people they had in there tonight certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's the perfect place to convene a large group of people for a private, laid-back but quality kind of meal. Joe and Massa's exceeded all of our expectations, and it made the decision of picking a Rehearsal Dinner spot the EASIEST decision I have made since our wedding planning started. Thanks Joe for such a wonderful evening! Looking forward to having Massa's help us celebrate our wonderful occassion in great style...it can't be here soon enough! Your newest fan, Nicole

Best Seafood in Houston. I've been to Massa's Seafood 3 times and each time i go i get the mango barbecue shrimp because it is always fresh and absolutely de-lish. The service is always top-notch and the plates are always colorful and well-prepared.

Downtowners rely on this longtime family operation for contemporary Creole and smooth service.. The Scene
Massa's is abuzz with big-spender seafood lovers and after-work deal makers. A mural of dreamy fish by a local artist anchors the cozy, wood-trimmed dining room. Expansive windows take in the bustling city view. Expect a lively bar scene at happy hour and before downtown shows.

The Food
The menu focuses on expertly cooked seafood, both trendy and traditional. Fresh trout almondine garnished with slivered almonds rests on satisfyingly creamy mashed potatoes. The hefty lunch po'boy bursts with crispy fried oysters and a side of thick steak fries. More imaginative is the rich grilled salmon entree crowned with kalamata olives, feta, pickled onions and balsamic reduction. On the lighter side, try large sea scallops over greens with a tangy Asian citrus vinaigrette. Finish with dense Key lime pie, dressed up with berries and whipped cream.

Great option for eating out downtown. I totally forgot about this restaurant. It really is quite good seafood as I recall. the problem is when we go for a show downtown we are usually rushed so we aren't able to sit down and enjoy a meal without shoving the food down our throat. That is the reason we haven't returned in awhile because if we go here after the game or like that it is ok but if we need quick service this isn't really the kind of restaurant to go tol

Best seafood in downtown!. As the Concierge for a major luxury hotel, I am pleased to have an excellent place to send guests. Massas Is both affordable and convienent. The blackened tilapia is devine and their specialty martinis are a must! I recommend it for both business and pleasure. They also have two very large private rooms in the back perfect for meetings and functions.

Great place to eat and relax with friends. When you walk in the door you just feel that this place is going to be great. The banquet room gives you the exclusiveness you want for a party. The service is good and the food was hot. The shrimp brochette's melt in your mouth! Save room for the Italian Cream Cake or like us take it to go! Massa's is a great place to go before an Astro's game. Our kids (ages 5-8) love to ride the Trolley and eat ice cream at Massa's. Thanks guys.

Downtown Option. Massa's Seafood Grill was a delight. The portions of food were very generous, the waiter was great, and the prices were very reasonable. Thought parking was a problem, then found out that Massa's can validate parking in the garage that is attached to the restaurant, so it will be easy next time. There are a few hidden treasures on the wine list, look past the "names" and get to the little known part of the list that contains some pretty good values.

Not as good as rated. Took wife on Valintine Day, and was very disappointed. Food was ok but not good. the ambiance is non-existant. Space looks like an upscale Denny's.
