“The food is not bad but is very costly.”
“Their Red Snapper "A la plancha" which is not on the menu is simply outstanding.”
“Easily my new favorite restaurant for seafood.”
“would have enjoyed the place had it not been for the poor service.”
“Tampico used to be a great seafood place; unfortunately, my last visit confirmed opinion: the quality and service are gone, and the prices are too high.”
Nasty Experience....THEY HAVE ROACHES.
Okay so I ordered the spinach enchiladas from here for like 10 dollars.
while I was eating it guess what I found in it?
A COCKROACH!!!!!............EEEEEWWWW!!!!
I told my waitress and she gave me a fresh one.
But as I was Eating it,I was always on the look out for more roaches....always on high alert.
just think I was eating food where roaches crawled on ....disgusting .......I did'nt really want to eat it..
I'll probably never go back and plus the food is expensive.
BEST SEAFOOD IN TOWN!. I love this place! Easily my new favorite restaurant for seafood. My favorite is the blackened salmon with fried rice, its the best! Cokes are even good and so is the guacamole. Its nothing fancy, but its perfect food! Please DO go!
SORRY. So wanted this to be a good experience as it's close to my work. Food was okay, service was non-existent even though lots of servers standing around and incredibly poor policy regarding gift certificates. We had a $50 gift certificate and spent $28. We were told that they couldn't give us back cash, which was okay, but even though they had $20 and $10 gift certificates, they could not give us those either. So, we spent $50!!! Quite a tip!!! Definitely won't go back.
There's only one dish to order "Snapper a la plancha". This place is awesome, if you want one of the best meals you will ever try (provided you like seafood of course) order the "Snapper a la plancha" with grilled shrimp, it will knock your socks off. The location, the ambience and so on leave nothing to be desired but the snapper makes the place.
Very Disappointed. I believe the prices are too high for the quality of food you get here. Service was okay, but I was expecting something better. Drinks were weak too!
Not Good. Went to Tampico with four friends from Mexico (they are from Tamaulipas the state of Tampico). We think the food is good but it is not original Tampiquena; it is more like a Tex-Mex interpretation of Mexican seafood similar to what you find in other Houston restaurants. We think the food is good but not at the level of top restaurants in town. The prices are very high for a place that looks like a taqueria. There are better choices in Houston for this price level. My Mexican friends are surprised this place is seen as a real Mexican restaurant.
great seafood. the food was great, from the shrimp, to the catfish, to the salsa, side orders... portions are plentiful. casual restaurant, but perfect for the family or a casual meal of delicious seafood.
Not so good. I visited this restaurant today and was very disapointed. there is much talk about this restaurant and a friend had recommended but I did not enjoy the food. There is no ambience and prices are high.
Arrogant Service.
I was not pleased with the poor service.
The food is not bad but is very costly.
I would have enjoyed the place had it not been for the poor service.
Used to be Good. Tampico used to be a great seafood place; unfortunately, my last visit confirmed opinion: the quality and service are gone, and the prices are too high. Much family feuding has left Tampico without their best players. There are many better run and cheaper seafood restaurants nearby and around Houston. My family and our friends will not return. They need a change in management pronto!!!
