“Teotihuacán is the best Mexican restaurant in Houston.”
“I've eaten at all these locations and by far this restaurant has the best food and service.”
“recommend the cheap ritas too.”
Still Very Good Mexican Food. None of those chains of so called "Tex-Mex" can compare. This is still some of the best Mexican food in town. I enjoy the Pollo Poblano (creamy poblano sauce over a chicken fajita breast)...always perfect. I recommend the cheap ritas too. If you want your crispy tacos or enchiladas, they have them too, but I would recommend something different and just enjoy it.
What this long-standing location may lack in updated decor, is more than made up for in affordable Tex-Mex..
In Short
Houstonians know their Tex-Mex, and many in town count Teos as one of their family favorites for tacos, carnitas, combination plates, seafood enchiladas, burritos and fajitas. Sample one of the bountiful table-grilled parilladas containing grilled quail, shrimp and a variety of meats. Fried avocados stuffed with chicken and cheese and whole fish dinners offer a break from the usual Tex-Mex standards. Enjoy affordable lunch specials (although no single menu item would break the bank) and tasty frozen margaritas.
Worth a weekly trip!. The food here is so good and it gives me a chance to practice my Spanglish. This location is my favorite of the 2 - even though it's smaller and looks so "50's coffee shop". I find the waitstaff to be very attentive; at lunch, they are running around so fast trying to please every one of us on our one hour lunch break. It is a cafe, very informal, but certainly not TexMex. One of the few places to get a Stuffed-Fried Avocado if you dare. Just pretend you are on a one hour vacation in Mexico.
Best Mexican food in Town.
I've been eating at Teo for several years now and love everything that I
have tried. The food is consistently delicious, and everyone that I have taken there goes back. I recommend Teo to everyone that isn't looking for something fancy, but rather for good, fresh, real mexican food!
Food is excellent!. However, some of the waitresses are very rude. Over the years I think they have become to comfortable with the place being family owned. Just because they own the place does not mean they can do whatever, they need to be respectful to all customers, at all times!
Needs cleaning & a new paint job. This place really needs a good cleaning. Food is good and generous portions. Good place for lunch (quick service) but would probably pass on it as a dinner spot.
Fatntastico! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Teotihuacán is the best Mexican restaurant in Houston. Quality is consistently good. Meat is always good and tasty. Both locations have great food. The original location(4624 Irvington Blvd) has faster service. The staff is friendly and welcoming to English- and Spanish-speakers. We've been coming here for 3.5 years and still love it. Everything on the menu is great including: fajitas, enchiladas verdes, flautas, & pollo ranchero. Deserts are good too, such as tres leches, flan, & crepes. Great lunch specials for less than $5. Margaritas cost $1.25 from 3-7 Mon-Fri. Breakfast if always good. Chips are served hot, and homemade flour tortillas are out-of-this-world.
The best Mexican food you can get!!!. I have been dining @ Teotihuacan for 4 years!! It is the ABSOLUTE best!! Chips, salsa, salads, everything- wonderful!! I have introduced a who scene of "white folks" to the "real mexican flavor" -- they are all very appreciative!!! My personal fav is el eduardo!! This place is phenomenal!
EAT AT TEOS!.
One of the most authentic, wonderful, Mexican food restaurants ever!
It's a dive, but it makes me proud to a Houstonian!
BEST SPINACH ENCHILADAS THE WORLD WILL EVER MAYBE NOT-KNOW!!!!!!
TRIED IT ALL. I've eaten at all these locations and by far this restaurant has the best food and service. They may need to expand to a larger and more comfortable location but I'm afraid that the food and service may be left behind in the small hole in wall where they are located now as many restaurants before have done when they move!
