I've been going to Susan Venus for about eight years. I have never had a bad experience! It's amazing what she can do with color (and it's not easy keeping away the grey)! The shop is quirky and very much an institution in the Heights. You'll never let anyone else touch your hair.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Venus Hair has a shady, unclean, unsafe feeling. And I’ve never been treated so unprofessionally, much less as a client for services for which I’m paying. The first time I went to Jill she coached me on the good things I should write about her on Citysearch, which was the first red flag. She buttered me up on my first visit, and since the price was right and she did a fair job I returned. On my second visit the police had to be called because a scary homeless guy walked in then kept lingering at the door of the salon. There are always weird homeless sorts hanging out in there and I was told to keep my purse with me at all times. It’s a small place and the salon chairs are next to the front door. On another visit, my appointment took about three hours and Jill was mad, because a girl had come back because she was unhappy with her highlights and Jill had to redo them. On another occasion Jill cancelled on me and was testy about rescheduling. When I arrived ten minutes late for the appt. after having to park three blocks away because there’s no parking near the salon on Saturdays, I was treated like dirt. Jill and Venus actually argued with me about the time, first being cold and nasty and wrongly accusing me of getting my appt time wrong. There was no apology. They were still frosty about my 10-minute-late arrival. I looked at their clock to discover it was 15 minutes fast I found Venus Hair from searching Citysearch, as you are now. I thought I’d done my homework but I’ve learned that good remarks on the internet mean nothing and that reports can easily be rigged. While going there the past few months, I learned from buzz in the salon that they “work it” to get customers from the internet by doing things such as pleading with people to vote for them as best salon when contests arise. People can vote multiple times and even the salon can go in make changes. It’s rigged and bogus. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.

Okay so I have a hard time sticking to one stylist, I hop around alot, because I never stay interested by them. But I have put that to rest now, because unless I die I will always go to SHARON to get my hair done. Her personality, friendliness, charismatic charm, and professionalism are by far her best qualities. I went to her initially because I had an itch to have a new look, and boy was I impressed. I took a few pictures and she and I both came up with a unique look just for me. Since then i've been back many times, each time changing it up and she's right along with me. Now when I get compliments i'm always telling people, "Go see my girl Sharon!"
