Roast Beef with Horseradish Mustard.
If someone you know has a cold, skip the chicken soup to go and go for the roast beef sandwich. The secret horseradish sauce will revive their tastebuds and get them on their feet. It was kind of a fun challenge eating it. It's not for kids and is an acquired taste.
The finely chopped yellow mustard potato salad was mild and sweet. It came in a little styrofoam cup and was a healthy (meaning small) portion.
Go for the ice cream too.

Best Muffalta. This heights restaurant is in a historical building on 19th street----- the sandwiches, salads and old fashion malts are good--- I particularly like the Muffalota sandwiches.
A Real Sandwich. Finally a sandwich just the way you want it! Be ready with you order and the staff fills it quickly. Good tasting and fresh!
Horrified!!!!!!. On Saturday 5/5/2007 my girlfriend and I thought we would go there for lunch. It was our first time in the deli. After we got to the counter and placed our order the man at the counter , who looked like a Jimmy Buffet pirate type asked my girlfriend if she wanted the left breast or the right breast on her chicken sandwich. Then he looked at me and asked me which breast I prefered? I was pretty shocked. I should have left at that point or told him to shut the hell up. Anyway, I ordered the Muffaletta and began to head to the cashier. I happened to glance over and noticed the sandwich making lady drop my bread on to the floor, glance around to make sure nobody was looking, and then put it on my sandwich. I dropped my ticket and headed out the door without saying a word to anyone. I can't believe that a restaurant would drop my food on the floor and then try to feed it to me after they had taken my money. Luckily I had not paid for it yet. If they do this type of thing during luch time just imagine what they do after hours when no one is around. I would not recommend a health hazard dump like this to anyone. They should be shut down.
very tasty place, but a tad overpriced....
ive been there twice now. each time ive VERY much enjoyed what i ordered. now its not going to change your world from an originality standpoint, but very tasty none the less... (highly suggest their B.E.L.T (bacon, lettuce, egg salad and tomato).
but i think $9 and change is a bit overpriced for a sandwich, small cup of potato salad, a pickle spear and an iced tea.
ill keep going back, simply because the food is good, and i like what they're doing!
so many pictures. As you eat at this great deli don't forget to look at all the photos on the wall. They are all of the historic heights when it was not historic. Sandwhiches are great as is the potato salad. The deserts are excellent (especially the small pies made by an eighty-something year old woman).
fun!. i love this spot! great sandwiches & iced tea. good later afternoon spot & then browse the antique places on 19th.
