“We just returned from Mexico and our first Houston restaurant stop TONY'S, there is no better place for Spinach enchiladas, raging margaritas and a comfortable happy atmosphere.”
“Lots of Tequila in the drinks, So very tasty.”
“would return to Tony's for a night out with friends drinking margarita's, but for some good Mexican food I will keep going to Tecate.”
“Their food is really the best mexican food so far (pappasito's is 4th on my list), and the menu is decently priced.”
“Alas, Tony's is real Tex-mex, with real good margaritas, great service (the whole family pitches in), and contrary to popular belief----a great place to bring kids because, well, everone else does.”
“would not recommend this restaurant to anyone nor would I return.”
“this place is BS as is ninfa's and many other restaurants touted as good by people who's advice is best to ignore.”
“went there for months and spend like 60 dollars on margaritas and food i didn't really eat, I was there mainly for the margaritas, I heard people making gay jokes and i didn't like that, i told my friends not to go either, on fridays gay people made goo”
“On our last visit, I had to get up and find a waiter, who was then rude, waited a long time for the food and it arrived all at the same time - queso, tacos and enchilladas - and was cold - and had to get up and find my waiter for the check.”
Great Margaritas!!. Frozen margaritas are the best! Food is good Tex-Mex and reasonably priced. Fast and professional service. Should definitely try it, at least once!
I love this place. the drinks and food were great. It had a family and fun atmosphere here. Service was good too :)
So-So Food and Credit Card Scammers.
My best friend and I decided to visit Tony's after a PTA meeting at Sinclair Elementary this week. I had not been to Tony's in about five years and I figured I would give it a shot since it was in the neighborhood.
We waited too long for a kid's menu. You would think a Kid's Menu would be automatic with a 6 year old with us. During the wait, another waiter came to our table to ask us for our order. We wanted to order, but again we were waiting on a Kid's Menu.
The food here is very Tex-Mex and not good Tex-Mex at that. The red sauce and the Spanish Rice tasted too much like canned tomatoes for my taste. The Queso was runny and a few dollars overpriced for the quality. The chili gravy on the Enchildas is disappointing at best.
The tea here was the best thing I had and they did manage to keep our glasses full with our assorted drinks.
I waited 8 minutes for the bill. I waited 13 more for the bill to come back to me after I paid. The next day I looked at my bank statement to see I was charged $48.17 and $23.17 (my bill, my correct total before tip) for my visit. I called the restaurant today and spoke to "Evylyn." The supposed manager took some information from me and promised to return my call in about 10 minutes. Four hours later, I call them back and was never taken off hold. Some place.
There is little parking in the front that is not valet, though they do have plenty behind the building and security. I think with the poor service and being ripped off, it will be atleast five more years (if at all) before I visit this place again.
Mexican food with a Zionist twist.
Seriously. What is up with the Israeli flag near the front entrance? I mean, yeh, I definitely want to be reminded of Israeli war crimes right before I eat Mexican food. What a moron this owner must be. There is also a bunch of Christian/evangelical stuff inside. I'm Christian but I still don't care for it.
And yes, I ate here. It had to happen eventually since I lived around the corner for years. It's nothing special and everything was extremely buttery. Somehow this place still seems to be teeming with people. I guess THEY like the Israeli flag. Avoid this place if possible.
Great Margaritas.... I live right around the corner so I go frequently. The margaritas are great. I always get fajittas and they are decent, but not great.
it is crappy. the food is crap. average is the best they can achieve. its amazing how many people wo live in houston do not know good mexican food. can't eat it or are scared of it. this place is BS as is ninfa's and many other restaurants touted as good by people who's advice is best to ignore.
Think They Put Something In Their Food. I really like their enchiladas (the cheese is a little crispier on top) and the owner is very friendly!
Stold my money.
Group of coworkers got together to say goodbye to coworker leaving the company. We ordered appetizers which were good.
I ordered Turkey and Coke paid $7 or 8 dollars-was just like drinking a coke. My coworker paid for the 2nd drink, and I paid for the 3rd. Total cost $21 to $25 dollars for 3 what they called premium drinks their reason for cost of it. I walked out of there as if I had drank 3 plain cokes. Went to my kids highschool football game -0- buzz. What a ripoff. Stold my money.
Great Tex-Mex. Are you hungry? If so, order the parilla. We ordered this dish that served two persons, but three could have partook. First the chips: they are warm, crunchy with good hot sauce. The parilla comes on a sizzling platter. It has two split quail that are grilled, and shrimp that are wrapped in bacon. Of course, chicken and beef fajitas. There was so much to eat. The only downside was that we were a couple and they sat us in the back in a room full of families with noisy kids. Oh well, we should have told the manager and we didn't. Our bad! But, again - the food was delicious. Get there early on a Friday or there is a wait.
What happened?????. We have been going to Tony's for several years but never again. The quality of the food has gotten so bad it is not edible. The margaritas have never been up to par, we quit ordering them a long time ago. Service is horrible. On our last visit, I had to get up and find a waiter, who was then rude, waited a long time for the food and it arrived all at the same time - queso, tacos and enchilladas - and was cold - and had to get up and find my waiter for the check. To top it all off , the owner was wondering around aimlessly. I have never understood why the place is always crowded. Never again. We will not be back. Attention restaurant owners - there is alot of growth and new people in the area - please open new quality restaurants as I am tired of driving miles to find a decent meal.
