This place has the worst bartenders in town, if you're over 30 and like a good drink, avoid it like the plague!

November 21, 2010. This place is a holes in the wall, where roaches creep around, that have nothing better to do.

Last night, my girlfriend and I drove to Houston to see Iron and Wine. Good show, but before the night was over, my cash came up missing. Pickpocketing is very common there.

Never to visit this place again.

the original. this place has been around forever-basically unchanged. it just knows what it is and what it does best: serve up live music and drinks (to the over 21 crowd). actually, going up the second floor balcony you stop momentarily to wonder why this place just doesn't collapse into a pile of sticks and teen rockers. anyway, it has always looked exactly like this as far back as i can remember (20+ years). it's a fun place, combining dive bars (2 indoors, 1 outdoors) with live music in a place large enough where you can move around. i guess you could dance, but people really don't and it's not a dance club anyway. people come to drink and listen to live music. there's (usually) an upstairs and downstairs show, so your chances of finding something you like are doubled(?). there's outdoor seating in the back yard. a lot of bookings are geared towards younger people...but this place is so well rooted as a club that first comes to mind to middle-aged people, i don't think anyone would feel too out of place on most nights. the down side is parking is mostly on the street unless you arrive really early.

SOOO MUCH FUN!!!. We were at Fitzgerald's last night for the Cowboy Mouth show and it was amazing! Not only did we get to see one of the best live shows I have ever seen (the energy in that room was awesome), we had the most wonderful time in the club! The bar staff was killer! It took me a few minutes to decide what kind of beer I wanted because there were so many different ones to pick from! My friend got a mixed drink called a Blue Jay... a specialty drink made by one of the bartenders... it kicked!!! I can't wait for Cowboy Mouth to come back again!!!! The best part... the manager, Tobin, was the sweetest guy... he walked us out to our car after the show. Yeah, parking is kinda hard sometimes ,but the staff is really cool about making sure you get to your car safely.

A Houston institution for more than 30 years, this eclectic club is the hangout of choice for a varied crowd of music enthusiasts, from punks to college students and rockers to professionals, which is. In Short
Initially a blues and roots venue, this popular night spot also had a stint as a deliciously feral alternative-rock club. These days, it hosts a variety of top local and national acts, including punk, alternative, metal, hip-hip, indy rock and even country. Check out bigger acts upstairs while up-and-comers share the bill downstairs. There is an outside patio (for smoking) with a bar and grill that serves food on show nights. Fitzgerald's is also a fantastic place for people-watching.

Not my crowd. In a word: narcotics. Sold in the parking lot by a truck that fronts as an ice cream truck. I guess this will now be a popular location based on what I just wrote. Not the crowd I would like to hang with. Went inside once, how dark, dank and cigarette smoking stinky. Ewww.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with us was not pleasant. We have worked very hard over the last year and a half to eliminate that part of the atmosphere at Fitzgerald's. The sales or use of narcotics on our property is simply not tolerated. We have a staff that prides itself on maintaining a safe and secure envoirnment for all of our patrons.

With the smoking ban in effect since September 2007, there is no longer smoking allowed inside the building. We are currently in the process of remodeling the downstairs bar to allow more light inside and to create more of a lounge type atmosphere.

We hope to see you again.

Great place!. I went to Fitzgerald's for the first time last night, and I was in a daze the entire night. The environment, the people, the music.. if I had four thumbs, I would definately hold them upright. The place can get crouded, but what more do you expect? It can get smokey, but you have the option of taking a breather outside on the second floor. The staff doesn't screw with you unless you're getting too rowdy or acting like a total retard. They can be a little harsh and ornery, but that only speaks for their seriousness in keeping up a good name for their business. The bands are great, I just love this place. I'm definately going back again.

Best punk club in Houston, period.. I have been going here since I was a teenager to hear some of the best local punk we have. On occasion nationally known bands will show up to play and that is always a treat. The place is very old and dark, but otherwise it rocks.
