“The restroom was disgusting, parking was a joke!”
“And the beer was Cold (nowadays a bonus) and Cheap.”
“Even so, this is a great place to catch some under-the-radar national and international touring acts.”
“The door guy there is a rude dude!”
Craptacular Venue. The door guy there is a rude dude! My friend was performing there and we where on her list. He said unless we where performing we had to pay. I said fine and paid for me and my guest. I tried to be nice anyway and make a joke, he was like um..... yea whatever. From the minimal crowd i guess they needed the money! The restroom was disgusting, parking was a joke! In short, if your looking for a hole in the wall, where the restroom smells like fermented urine, the bar has a very limited selection, and the door guy is a rude , this place is the spot.
eh.....
i went to Walter's to see my boyfriend'sband, and as an onlooker i didn't think the service was that bad...other than the fact that there's no re-entry if you're under 21. talking to my bf afterwards, however, i found out that they treat the bands like...well $h!t. the sound guy acted as if he didn't want to be there. the bartender seemed annoyed if asked for a water cup and they were constantly nagging the audiencefor accidentaly unplugging the cords, when in reality it was the venue's fault for ahving such a poor set up.
as for the a/c, well yes, it $uck$ and it's very hot in there and with everyone smoking...well you can imagine.
I can't breathe in here.. Walter's on Washington books some great indie bands. Unfortunately, they don't invest in making the experience of hearing these bands worthwhile. Not only is there too little air conditioning, but you can hardly breathe in the place once it fills up. It is just downright stagnant. Also, they really need to invest a little more into improving the acoustics of the room. What good is a concert if you can't make out even one word of the singer? With all the recent development and improvements on Washington, this club could really shine with a little more investment. As for now, I'd rather attend a concert at a venue where I don't start to feel faint due to lack of oxygen.
Enjoy cold, cheap Bud and the performances of some of Texas' best bands at this Washington Avenue staple..
In Short
This is the tip of Pam Robinson's triangle of bars which also includes Silky's (next door) and Fat Cat's (across the street). The tap beer selection is limited to Bud and Bud Light and top-shelf liquor is scarce. Order a domestic beer instead; they're always reasonably priced. Any time after 5pm on a weekday, you'll find a core of locals sitting at the bar sharing stories about work and life in general, while watching the huge 62-inch big-screen TV.
Great low-tech funky venue. Would benefit from some improved air conditioning because it can get really smokey. Even so, this is a great place to catch some under-the-radar national and international touring acts.
Great live music on Washington Ave..
The place really reflects the neighborhood. The power of good music draws in an eclectic group. The Music is what matters at this place. If theres no band its a great place to "kick back" with a cold one or a mixed drink and meet friends new or old. Pam (the Queen of Washington Ave.) and her crew always have great things happ'in at WOW.

Hot Rod Gang. Matt Hole and the Hotrod gang played Walter's this weekend and they were great. This rockabilly rebel puts on one hell of a show! Walter's has got to be one of the friendliest bars I have been to in Houston. The bartenders and the rest of the staff were courteous and attentive. And the beer was Cold (nowadays a bonus) and Cheap.
Friendly. I have been a regular there for about a year. This is a great place to sto by after work or after dinner during the week to get away from the hustle and bustle. I have been there a couple of time on the weekends to hear some good local music. By the looks of their June calendar it apprears that they are trying to get some better known bands in there.
