“The Rainbow Lodge should be touted as a Business Power Dinner/Lunch Restaurant, but NOT a romantic place for a special night out.”
“They also have an excellent pastry chef so it is definitely worth saving room for dessert.”
“would recommend The Rainbow Lodge for a Special night, lunch, business lunch or dinner (you can acturally hear each other which is unique in Houston) or even a drink at the bar after work.”
“Even with a wonderful view of the garden, I can think of dozens if not hundreds of restaurants in town where the food and service would be more worth the trip.”
“Our waitress suggested this other dish that would have a good variety for our group.”
“For a special occasion, this is a great place to eat.”
“We highly recommend the Rainbow Lodge for special events, and we can't wait to return for dinner!”

“This restaurant has been in the area for a very long time, although it had to move from the wonderful location it originally had.”
The Rainbow Lodge is a 100 year old log cabin restaurant on an acre of grounds right in the middle of Houston! Owner Donnette Hansen is
focused on the details in this iconic Houston dining spot. Sophisticated but not "stuffy". Enjoy notable and special wines paired with local and seasonal ingredients.
Comfortable presentations of Venison, Elk, Boar, Bison, Gulf Snapper, Smoked Duck and Housemade Sausages appear daily paired with vegetables and herbs growing 20 feet away in the Lodge's expansive gardens. Lunch is lighter, entrees from $12-$20 and Sunday Brunch features 99 cent mimosas!
Only minutes from downtown & the Galleria in the Heights, Rainbow Lodge features dynamic views, 3 fireplaces, a citrus grove, decks and patios, a casual fun bar and four private dining rooms. There are spacious facilities for private parties & garden weddings. Call 713.581.8245 for a reservation!

Step out of time into this old log. Set inside a 100 year-old log cabin, going to Rainbow Lodge is like taking a slice out of time. Inside, wild animal trophies hang on wood-slatted walls. A gorgeous winding deck and beautiful green foliage beckon from outside. The wild game theme extends to the menu, where Chef Mario Valdez's offers dishes like nilgai, antelope, and wild boar alongside fresh fish. Their Friday lunch burger, made with wild game and pork or lamb belly custom grind, is also to-die-for.
Places to pretend it's winter: Roaring fireplaces and rustic charm. There is simply no place cozier. Even at 70-plus, you can convince yourself there's snow on the ground
Fantastic!. We had a table of six on Valentines Day! Everything was great. We didn't have to wait for our table, the waitress and other staff were pleasant and very attentative. The food was superb. It was a fabulous evening.
City's Best. We had out of town guests and the place was really decked out for the holidays. Our food was great as well as service. Get a table by the fireplace. Great setting and hunting lodge feel for an "in town" restaurant. Best kept secret in Houston. Better than expected!
Magical. A wonderful romantic place, expecially for brunch during a spring afternoon. The most beautiful view. I recommend the corner table and the food is delicious.
ugh!. an awful dining experience! from start to finish...over priced, over hyped, over it!
completely relaxing. This is the place to go when you feel like eating perfectly seasoned wild duck while sitting in the middle of the woods all without traveling outside loop 610. Very enjoyable dining.
Romantic, its NOT!.
Romantic, its not! The location and drive up to the Lodge looks promising. But that's where the romance ends. Unless you are sitting a a specific table called "the Landing" your conversation is your neighbors conversation. The tables are crammed very close to each other. The wait staff struggles not to bump into your table while serving another. Next, there's no dress code whatsoever. There were several guests in blue jeans, boots and very casual shirts. Furthermore, there were NUMEROUS guests having conversations on their MOBILE PHONES. There was even one guest using his Nextel speaker phone!!! As a result, the Rainbow Lodge is very noisy.
On the plus side, the food is very good. The Rainbow Lodge should be touted as a Business Power Dinner/Lunch Restaurant, but NOT a romantic place for a special night out.
Love the Lodge. We celebrate our birthdays at Rainbow Lodge and always have a wonderful time. The food is exceptional and the ambience is like no other. For the ultimate romantic dining experience, the spot to sit is upstairs at the window. (they will know wich table it is if you ask for it!)
Hokey and Lame. This place is a wannabe, all hype.....you hear it's great but paaaleeeze....no parking, valet only.....and the food, well lets say, it's not my cup of tea. Total disappoint!
over the rainbow. Nice outside. Inside more geared to men having dinner together, not for a date. Service and ffod are only OK. Over-priced...
The Best!. There is not another restaurant in Houston with the combination of great food and perfect atmosphere. This place has it all. And if you're in the market for a fabulous Sunday brunch, there is none better than the Rainbow Lodge!
