Tasty TexMex Breakfast. I love TexMex. I love breakfast. While you can usually find me at my favourite roach coach or standing in line at the taqueria on the weekends, when guests come in town, I try to class it up a bit. My signature is to introduce everyone to the michelada. So when my Yankee friend detoured on his move from the Carolinas to Vegas to see me ... I was on a mission to find a not-so-scary-to-the-Yankees Tex Mex breakfast complete with a michelada.

I'd seen the signs for Cadillac's breakfast but the time I'd been previously for happy hour many moons ago, I thought it was pretty cheesy.

It seems Cadillac has classed up their act. It's like an upscale Chili's but definitely better cuisine. At noon it was sparse and we had an overly friendly and pretty attentive waiter. The michelada's served in a huge, frost, goblet that's almost a little embarrassing to drink from. The portions on ginormous and the food is was exactly the intro I was looking for for my friends' visit.

Formula restaurant w/Mexican theme. I ordered a Cadillac salad, which was ample in portion size, but it was iceberg lettuce, 4 slices of tomatoes, and 4 slices of avocado. Period. End of sentence. BORING. The service was good, but the place is loud, so don't come looking for a quiet, romantic dinner. Very casual dress. I look for the little features that make a restaurant unique, but I didn't find it here -- at all. I have been trying to contact the banquet coordinator, but her voice mail is not set up, she only works Monday through Friday, she doesn't come in until 10 a.m., etc. If it's this difficult to get ahold of her, if there is a problem or issue that needs to be addressed, how easy will she be to get ahold of? I'm going elsewhere.

Greasy Food. All I can say I requested no butter or oil, unless they had to place some on the grill to be able to cook it. My fajitas were drenched in oil and I told the waiter about it, and just said that's the way they come....need I say more! I will never return!

Excellent service and tasty mexican food. Excellent service! Last night we dined at Cadillac's and I experienced great service which is hard to find these days. Our waiter suggested the Chicken Enchilada's to me and they were very good. The portions were just right and our basket of chips never became less than half full. The salsa with the chips was good, not great. It could use a bit more spice to it. My co-workers enhaled their quesadillas and the taco salad seemed to be quite good but was finished prior to me asking for a bite. I am sure we will all go back. I wish there was more information about this business online.

Best Place for a rehearsal dinner. I just had my rehearsal dinner at Cadillac Bar in the West End and it was perfect! The banquet manger was so great to give us exactly what we wanted right down to the table cloths. We got to customize our menu and everything! The prices where what sold us because everyone else had a minimum or a room charge. The best part about it was that after words we all took fun pictures in the beautiful West End. This place was great and stress free. I highly recommend it!

Carnitas as Tender as Wood. I've been to the CB twice, with over a year separating the two visits. First time was before Landry's took them over, second time after, but before they "sanitized" the place. In my experiences there, the place had problems even before the takeover.

I have a personal weakness for carnitas, so the first time I was there, that's what I ordered. Now, I'll admit that there are different ways to prepare carnitas. Some places will roast a pork butt until it has developed a nice rind on the outside and is still moist, but fork tender on the inside, then break it up into manageable hunks and serve it that way. Other places will saute the pieces of pork until they're crispy on the outside, but still moist and tender on the inside. What I got was neither. The carnitas had been broken up into very small pieces and left (somewhere) to harden and completely dry out. I ate the dish, but didn't enjoy it at all. The next time I went there, my daughter (who also likes carnitas -- at least the way I fix them) ordered the same dish. I figured what I had gotten the firstt time was a fluke, so I didn't caution her against them. But what she got was exactly the same as what I did over a year before. This time, we sent them back. They offered to cook them another way, which sounded to me like the second method of preparation I mentioned above. But what my daughter got instead was a wet, soggy mess. She wouldn't eat it, and I didn't have the cojones to send the dish back a second time (besides, she'd had to wait a half hour for her food by that point, while the rest of us had ours), so I traded with her. I ended up eating lousy carnitas twice in a row. You want good Mexican food? You're better off going down the street to Jax Grill and ordering their macho nachos, or to just about any carniceria with a steam table.

Taken over by corporate America. Yes, we too tried the Cadillac Bar to see how it fared after being taken over by the Landry's restaurant group. Well they cleaned up the walls, added cloth tablecloths, put better uniforms on the waiters, raised the prices, and paved the parking lot. But they took out the ambiance, the fun of being at a classic funky place, and turned it into corporate mexican food. Too bad. It's boring and bland. I'll go to a Pappas next time.

No longer a special place for your rite of passage. My son turned 21 last weekend and we raved to him about the CB and the salsa girls and the noise and the writing on the walls. When we arrived, we were shocked to see that the place was trying to emulate a boring Mexican Cafe. Boo Hoo! What a disappointment! The place was empty on a Friday night. Does anyone know of another place that might work for future rites of passage? I won't be back again and I am going to spread the word. Why would someone ruin such a great Houston tradition and adult hang out? There are so many other boring Mexican cafes for those who didnot like the raunchiness, but nothing will replace the old CB and the fun times we had in the past.

The Re-Bitten Chips. My wife and I ate at this place 3 times. The third time was our final time,and here's why. You are familiar with the chips the smiling waiters bring to your table in Mexician restaurants aren't you? Well,this time the chips were apparently bitten into and wet with salsa from the previous diners. It was incredible to reach in the chip basket and pull out a chip wet with salsa, and bitten into. Thanks amigo's we'll chew our own food. I don't recommend this restaurant at all.

I WANT CRASS. For Christ Sakes! Where is the cultural experience? You never try to refine a CRASS thing! They dried up all the fun and the food is not worth it! Bring back the Tequila Girl - or just make it your usual local dining spot for a quick bite! Boring! Do not waste your time! Go Downtown!!!!!!
